4ms LEQA
Stereo compressor, four-band EQ, and stereo-width processor in 14HP.
14 HP Eurorack module
LEQA (Leveling EQ Amplifier) is 4ms's all-DSP utility for shaping stereo signals at the master-bus or per-voice level. It combines a soft-knee compressor with switchable 3:1 / Limit 10:1 ratios, a four-band tone section (sweepable low shelf, parametric mid bell, fixed 10 kHz high shelf, sweepable HPF), and a stereo-width processor that ranges from mono sum through pass-through to mid/side difference. The EQ can be routed before or after the compressor — Pre for tone-shaped compression, Post for filtered distortion when the make-up gain is pushed past unity. Runs at 96 kHz / 24-bit in just 25 mm of depth.
Features
- Stereo compressor + 4-band EQ + stereo-width processor in 14HP
- Switchable compression ratio: 3:1 (Comp) / Bypass / 10:1 (Limit)
- Dry/wet Mix knob for parallel (NY) compression
- Up to +40 dB clean make-up gain with hard ±10 V clip and Clip LED
- 9-LED Gain Reduction VU meter (0 to -24 dB)
- Four EQ bands: Low Shelf (35/60/110/220 Hz), Parametric Mid (6 frequencies), High Shelf (fixed 10 kHz), HPF (50/80/160/300 Hz or off)
- Global EQ range toggle: ±5 dB (gentle) or ±15 dB (extreme), HPF slope also changes (6 → 18 dB/oct)
- Pre / Bypass / Post EQ-routing switch around the compressor
- Stereo-width processor: Mono ↔ Stereo ↔ Diff with CV input
- Auto mono/stereo detection — In L normalled to In R when Right is unpatched
- 96 kHz / 24-bit DSP, 25 mm depth
- Firmware-updatable via audio file into Left input
Controls & Jacks (18)
- Amount — Compression amount — sets the threshold at which gain reduction begins.
- Comp Ratio — Three-position ratio switch: Comp 3:1 / Bypass / Limit 10:1.
- Mix — Dry/Wet crossfader for parallel compression.
- Gain — Make-up gain post-compressor, -∞ to +40 dB. Hard-clips at ±10 V.
- Low Shelf — Boost/cut the selected low frequency.
- High Shelf — Boost/cut at the fixed 10 kHz shelf.
- Mid Range — Parametric mid bell — boost/cut at the selected mid frequency.
- Low Shelf Select — Cycles low shelf corner frequency 35/60/110/220 Hz. Long-press 2s toggles EQ dB range.
- Mid Range Select — Cycles parametric mid frequency 360/700/1.6k/3.2k/4.8k/7.2k Hz.
- HPF Select — Cycles HPF corner 50/80/160/300 Hz; cycle past last = disabled.
- EQ Level — EQ output trim, 0% silent → 100% unity. Clip LED above.
- EQ Routing — Pre / Bypass / Post — places the EQ before, removed from, or after the compressor.
- Width — Mono / Stereo / Diff stereo-width control. CCW bypasses the width processor.
- In Left — Left audio input. Normalled to Right when Right is unpatched (auto-mono).
- In Right — Right audio input. Activates stereo mode when both inputs are patched.
- Width CV In — Width knob CV input, 0 to +5 V.
- Out Left — Processed left audio output.
- Out Right — Processed right audio output.
