The Quad Clock Distributor is a four-channel voltage-controlled clock divider and multiplier with master tap tempo, capable of dividing or multiplying clocks from /32 to x16 per channel. Each channel can sync to the tap tempo, to the channel above, or to an external clock, making it a versatile rhythmic hub for complex, evolving trigger patterns. Its normalization scheme, reset jacks, and CV inputs allow for sophisticated polyrhythmic and shuffle-based beat generation.
Features
- Four independent CV-controlled clock divider/multipliers covering /32 to x16 per channel
- Detented Div/Mult knobs that click at integer division and multiplication values
- Tap Tempo button with dedicated TAP OUT jack running at tapped tempo regardless of channel clock sources
- CLK IN jacks normalized downward: Tap->Red->Black->Blue->Green
- Plugging into a CLK IN jack clocks that channel and all channels below with the same clock
- Reset jack on each channel restarts the clock phase when a trigger is received
- Auto-stop: each channel stops automatically when the incoming clock stops
- Div/Mult CV jack per channel: 0V to 10V sweeps full range, knob provides offset
- Channels can be stacked for extended range of /1048576 to x65536
- Gate Mode (50% duty cycle) or Trigger Mode (12ms pulses) selectable via PCB jumpers
- LED brightness adjustable via trimpot accessible through front panel hole
- Threshold trimpot on back adjusts triggering voltage for CLK IN and Reset jacks (default 2.5V, range 0V-5V)
Controls & Jacks (26)
- Tap — Manually tap to set the master clock tempo. Two taps sets the BPM.
- Out — Master clock output at the tapped tempo, before any division or multiplication.
- Ch 1 Div/Mult — Selects clock division or multiplication ratio for channel 1. Range: /32 to x16.
- Ch 1 CV — CV input to modulate the division/multiplication ratio for channel 1.
- Ch 1 — Activity LED for channel 1 — flashes with each output pulse.
- Ch 1 CLK IN — Clock input for channel 1. Normaled from the master (Tap) clock.
- Ch 1 OUT — Divided or multiplied clock output for channel 1.
- Ch 1 Reset — Reset input for channel 1 — resets the divider/multiplier phase.
- Ch 2 CLK IN — Clock input for channel 2. Normaled from channel 1 CLK IN.
- Ch 2 CV — CV input to modulate the division/multiplication ratio for channel 2.
- Ch 2 — Activity LED for channel 2 — flashes with each output pulse.
- Ch 2 OUT — Divided or multiplied clock output for channel 2.
- Ch 2 Div/Mult — Selects clock division or multiplication ratio for channel 2. Range: /32 to x16.
- Ch 2 Reset — Reset input for channel 2 — resets the divider/multiplier phase.
- Ch 3 CLK IN — Clock input for channel 3. Normaled from channel 2 CLK IN.
- Ch 3 CV — CV input to modulate the division/multiplication ratio for channel 3.
- Ch 3 Div/Mult — Selects clock division or multiplication ratio for channel 3. Range: /32 to x16.
- Ch 3 — Activity LED for channel 3 — flashes with each output pulse.
