ALM Busy Circuits MCFx2

State-variable MCF filter made double.

14 HP Eurorack module

A dual state-variable MCF filter with two analog cores, direct control, and voltage control of each filter's cutoff and resonance.

Features

  • Two identical classic analog three-pole state-variable filter cores.
  • Supports serial and parallel filtering configurations.
  • Each filter output is three-pole with an 18 dB/octave slope.
  • Rear jumpers independently select band-pass or notch operation for each BP/Notch output.

Controls & Jacks (24)

  • Feed— Routes the left filter output to the right filter input unless the right input is patched; the rear jumper selects which left output is fed.
  • Left Resonance— Sets the resonant peak level of the left filter; high settings can drive it into self-oscillation.
  • Link— Links the left cutoff control to control both filter cores in parallel. With the right cutoff fully clockwise, both filters track together.
  • Right Resonance— Sets the resonant peak level of the right filter; high settings can drive it into self-oscillation.
  • Left Frequency CV Attenuverter— Attenuverts the left cutoff-frequency CV input and combines it with the cutoff knob offset.
  • Left Cutoff— Sets the base cutoff frequency of the left filter.
  • Left BP/Notch Output— 18 dB/oct band-pass or notch output from the left filter; the rear jumper selects the mode.
  • Left Resonance CV Attenuverter— Attenuverts the left resonance CV input and combines it with the resonance knob offset.
  • Right Frequency CV Attenuverter— Attenuverts the right cutoff-frequency CV input and combines it with the cutoff knob offset.
  • Right Resonance CV Attenuverter— Attenuverts the right resonance CV input and combines it with the resonance knob offset.
  • Right Cutoff— Sets the base cutoff frequency of the right filter; when Link is enabled, it sets the right core's maximum cutoff range.
  • Right High Output— 18 dB/oct high-pass output from the right filter.
  • Left Low Output— 18 dB/oct low-pass output from the left filter.
  • Left High Output— 18 dB/oct high-pass output from the left filter.
  • Right Frequency CV Input— CV input for the right filter cutoff, processed by the right frequency CV attenuverter; expects approximately -5 V to +5 V.
  • Right Low Output— 18 dB/oct low-pass output from the right filter.
  • Right BP/Notch Output— 18 dB/oct band-pass or notch output from the right filter; the rear jumper selects the mode.
  • Left V/Oct Input— 1 V/oct cutoff-frequency input for the left filter; permits key tracking or sine-like self-oscillation use.
  • Left Frequency CV Input— CV input for the left filter cutoff, processed by the left frequency CV attenuverter; expects approximately -5 V to +5 V.
  • Left Resonance CV Input— Attenuated CV input for the left filter's resonance; expects approximately -5 V to +5 V.
  • Right Resonance CV Input— Attenuated CV input for the right filter's resonance; expects approximately -5 V to +5 V.
  • Left Audio Input— Audio input for the left filter. This input is normalled to the right audio input unless Feed is enabled.
  • Right Audio Input— Audio input for the right filter. It receives the normalled left input unless a plug is inserted or Feed is enabled.
  • Right V/Oct Input— 1 V/oct cutoff-frequency input for the right filter; permits key tracking or sine-like self-oscillation use.
