ALM Busy Circuits Mega-Tang
4-channel live performance VCA mixer with effects send
16 HP Eurorack module
The Mega-Tang is a 4-channel linear VCA and stereo mixer designed for live Eurorack performance, offering per-channel level, send, pan, and mute control with a clean and transparent signal path inherited from the Tangle Quartet VCA. It provides a mono effects send with stereo return, individual pre-mix VCA outputs for monitoring and cueing, and soft-latching mute buttons with LED indicators, making it an expressive and practical performance mixer.
Features
- 4-channel linear VCA with clean, transparent signal path based on the Tangle Quartet VCA
- Per-channel manual level control knobs doubling as CV attenuators when CV is patched
- Per-channel Level CV inputs with LED level indicators
- Per-channel send controls for routing signal to the mono effects send output
- Mono effects send output with stereo effects return (AC coupled)
- Left effects return normalled to Right for mono return signals
- Per-channel manual pan controls for stereo placement in the mix
- Per-channel soft-latching mute buttons with LED indicators
- Soft-close mute circuit to minimize clicks during live muting
- Individual per-channel VCA outputs that remove the channel from the main mix (post-VCA, pre-send/pan/mute)
- Stereo mix outputs for the final mixed signal
- All signal inputs and outputs are DC coupled (Euro level) except effects return which is AC coupled
Controls & Jacks (37)
- In 1 — Audio or CV signal input for channel 1. DC coupled.
- In 2 — Audio or CV signal input for channel 2. DC coupled.
- In 3 — Audio or CV signal input for channel 3. DC coupled.
- In 4 — Audio or CV signal input for channel 4. DC coupled.
- Send Output — Mono effects send output combining all four channels send signals.
- Return L (m) — Stereo effect return left input. AC coupled. Normaled to right input for mono return signals.
- Channel 1 Level CV Input — CV level control input for channel 1 VCA. LED represents control level.
- Channel 2 Level CV Input — CV level control input for channel 2 VCA. LED represents control level.
- Channel 3 Level CV Input — CV level control input for channel 3 VCA. LED represents control level.
- Channel 4 Level CV Input — CV level control input for channel 4 VCA. LED represents control level.
- Return R — Stereo effect return right input. AC coupled.
- Channel 1 Send Control — Controls the amount of channel 1 post-level signal mixed to the effects send output.
- Channel 2 Send Control — Controls the amount of channel 2 post-level signal mixed to the effects send output.
- Channel 3 Send Control — Controls the amount of channel 3 post-level signal mixed to the effects send output.
- Channel 4 Send Control — Controls the amount of channel 4 post-level signal mixed to the effects send output.
- Out 4 — Individual output for channel 4. Breaks signal out post-VCA, before sends, pans and mutes. Patching removes channel from main mix.
- Channel 1 Pan Control — Pans channel 1 signal between left and right stereo mix outputs.
- Channel 2 Pan Control — Pans channel 2 signal between left and right stereo mix outputs.
- Channel 3 Pan Control — Pans channel 3 signal between left and right stereo mix outputs.
- Channel 4 Pan Control — Pans channel 4 signal between left and right stereo mix outputs.
- Out 3 — Individual output for channel 3. Breaks signal out post-VCA, before sends, pans and mutes. Patching removes channel from main mix.
- Out 2 — Individual output for channel 2. Breaks signal out post-VCA, before sends, pans and mutes. Patching removes channel from main mix.
- Channel 1 Level Control — Sets the output level of channel 1 VCA. Without CV patched, acts as a volume knob. With CV patched to Level CV Input, acts as an attenuator
- Channel 2 Level Control — Sets the output level of channel 2 VCA. Without CV patched, acts as a volume knob. With CV patched to Level CV Input, acts as an attenuator
- Channel 3 Level Control — Sets the output level of channel 3 VCA. Without CV patched, acts as a volume knob. With CV patched to Level CV Input, acts as an attenuator
- Channel 4 Level Control — Sets the output level of channel 4 VCA. Without CV patched, acts as a volume knob. With CV patched to Level CV Input, acts as an attenuator
- Out 1 — Individual output for channel 1. Breaks signal out post-VCA, before sends, pans and mutes. Patching removes channel from main mix.
- Channel 1 Level LED — Indicates channel 1 signal level and CV activity.
- Channel 2 Level LED — Indicates channel 2 signal level and CV activity.
- Channel 3 Level LED — Indicates channel 3 signal level and CV activity.
- Channel 4 Level LED — Indicates channel 4 signal level and CV activity.
- Channel 1 Mute — Latching button that mutes channel 1 in the main stereo mix. Soft-close circuit helps avoid clicks. LED lights when muted.
- Channel 2 Mute — Latching button that mutes channel 2 in the main stereo mix. Soft-close circuit helps avoid clicks. LED lights when muted.
- Channel 3 Mute — Latching button that mutes channel 3 in the main stereo mix. Soft-close circuit helps avoid clicks. LED lights when muted.
- Channel 4 Mute — Latching button that mutes channel 4 in the main stereo mix. Soft-close circuit helps avoid clicks. LED lights when muted.
- Mix Out L — Final stereo mix output left channel.
- Mix Out R — Final stereo mix output right channel.
