ALM Busy Circuits S.B.G

Compact pedal-interface utility module

4 HP Eurorack module

S.B.G is a compact Eurorack utility for interfacing guitar effects pedals, with send attenuation, return amplification, and dry/wet mixing.

Features

  • Attenuates the modular send signal for external effects.
  • Amplifies the returned signal to modular level, with approximately 3 dB to 34 dB of gain.
  • Indicates clipping when the returned signal is over-amplified.
  • Manually crossfades between the original dry source and returned wet signal.
  • Conditions expression CV by limiting its indicated voltage and passing only its positive portion.
  • Remember: use the supplied floating-ring cable for expression connections, choose the correct maximum voltage for the pedal, and use only pedals whose cable tip is the input rather than a reference-voltage connection.

Controls & Jacks (11)

  • Return Gain— Amplifies the external effect return to modular level; reduce it if the clip indicator lights.
  • Send Level— Attenuates the modular input signal before it is sent to an external effects pedal; turn counter-clockwise to reduce the outgoing level.
  • Expression Input— Modulation/CV input to be conditioned for a pedal expression input.
  • Dry/Wet Mix— Crossfades between the original dry input and the amplified wet return signal.
  • 3V Expression Output— Positive-only expression CV output limited to 3 V for compatible pedal expression inputs.
  • 5V Expression Output— Positive-only expression CV output limited to 5 V for compatible pedal expression inputs.
  • Mix Output— Final audio output, mixing the original dry input with the amplified return signal.
  • Send Output— Attenuated audio output for feeding an external effects pedal input.
  • Dry Input— Modular-level dry audio input; this unattenuated signal is also used as the dry source for the final mix.
  • Return Input— Audio input from the external effects pedal output, amplified back toward modular level.
  • Return Clip Indicator— Lights red when the amplified return signal is clipping.

How-To Guides

  • Set pedal effect levels
  • Create reverse-patched distortion
