Antimatter Audio Crossfold
Dual-input 8-stage analog wavefolder with a CV crossfader on the way in and a triple-mode dry/wet stage on the way out.
6 HP Eurorack module
The Crossfold is a 6 HP dual-input wavefolder built around an 8-stage analog folding core preceded by a voltage-controlled crossfader. Two audio sources are blended by Fade (knob + CV), driven through Fold and Range to set the depth and number of folds, and presented at the output through a CV-controlled Mix stage with three switchable behaviors. The combination produces "crossfolds" — the harmonic interactions of two signals after folding — ranging from subtle saturation and through-zero-FM-like timbres to extreme distortion and metallic clipping.
Features
- 8-stage analog wavefolder
- Dual voltage-controlled crossfader on the inputs
- CV over Fade, Fold, Range, and Mix
- Fold + Range pair sets fold count from 1 stage up to clipping
- Built-in output limiter prevents volume spikes when clipping
- Three-mode output switch: XF dry crossfader / V VCA / 1 dry In 1
- Mix stage doubles as a final VCA in V mode
- All-analog signal path with high-quality op amps and VCAs
- Through-zero-FM-style timbres from audio-rate Fade modulation
- Reverse power protection
- 6 HP, 80 mA / 80 mA
- Smooth saturation through extreme metallic distortion
Controls & Jacks (12)
- Fade — Manual control for the crossfade balance between In 1 (fully CCW) and In 2 (fully CW). Sums with Fade CV. Sets the mix sent into the wavefol
- Fade CV — Voltage control input for the crossfade between In 1 and In 2. Sums with the Fade knob.
- Fold — Main intensity control for the 8-stage wavefolder. Travels from no folding up to the full Range. Sums with Fold CV.
- Fold CV — Voltage control input for fold intensity. Sums with the Fold knob.
- Range — Sets the scope of the Fold control, from a single subtle fold up through the full 8 stages and into clipping. Sums with Range CV.
- Range CV — Voltage control input for fold range/scope. Sums with the Range knob.
- Mix — Output level / dry-wet control. Behavior when closed depends on the Mix Mode switch (XF/V/1). Fully open the output is always fully wet.
- Mix CV — Voltage control input for the Mix knob. With the right switch position this turns the output stage into a CV-controlled VCA or dry/wet cross
- In 1 — Audio input 1 — feeds the A side of the input crossfader before wavefolding. Modular level. Curvy waveforms (sines, self-resonant filters) w
- Mix Mode — Three-position output mode switch (labelled XF / V / 1). Selects what signal the Mix control crossfades the wet output against — see Mix Mod
- In 2 — Audio input 2 — feeds the B side of the input crossfader before wavefolding. Modular level. Two distinct sources produce the most interestin
- Out — Main audio output, post output-stage. Built-in limiter prevents large volume spikes when driven into clipping while keeping a musical dynami
How-To Guides
- Classic timbral wavefolder
- A↔B crossfade with rhythmic fold
- Drum + sine dry/wet (Mix Mode = 1)
- Folded voice with VCA output (Mix Mode = V)
- Audio-rate fold modulation (FM-like)
