Befaco Bandit
Four-band spectral VCA filter crossover mixer
8 HP Eurorack module
Bandit is a four-band spectral processing module combining band-pass filters, VCAs, and flexible routing options. It functions simultaneously as a voltage-controlled equalizer, multiband crossover, spectral FX insert, and four-band mixer, allowing creative timbral shaping, band-splitting for external processing, and dynamic spectral manipulation via CV.
Features
- Four-band spectral processing: Low-Pass shelf (300 Hz), Mid-Low Band-Pass peak (~700 Hz), Mid-High Band-Pass peak (~1500 Hz), High-Pass shelf (5 kHz)
- Four individual VCAs, one per frequency band, with fader control and CV input
- ALL AUDIO IN normalled to all four band audio inputs simultaneously
- ALL CV IN sums with each individual band CV input
- Individual BAND AUDIO OUTs break signal path for external FX insert
- RETURNS IN summed post-filter directly into MIX OUT
- Band Level Faders double as attenuators for CV input when cable is patched
- Band Level CV expected range 0-10V: 5V = unity, 0V = silence, >5V = boost
- Soft clipping limiter at MIX OUT
- Mix Peak Meter: green = signal present, red = clipping (post-limiter)
- Functions as equalizer, crossover, multiband VCA, spectral mixer, and FX insert
Controls & Jacks (26)
- Mid-High Band Level — Controls the gain of the Mid-High Band-Pass filter band VCA. Unity gain at center, silence at bottom, boost above center. Functions as atten
- Mid-Low Band Return In — Return input for the Mid-Low band, summed into the mix output post-filters.
- Mid-Low Band Level — Controls the gain of the Mid-Low Band-Pass filter band VCA. Unity gain at center, silence at bottom, boost above center. Functions as attenu
- High Band Level CV In — CV input controlling the High band VCA level. 0 V silences the band, 5 V is unity gain, and voltages above 5 V boost it.
- Mix Out — Mixed output of all band signals and return inputs with soft clipping limiter to prevent distortion.
- Low Band Return In — Return input for the Low band, summed into the mix output post-filters.
- All Audio In — General audio input normalled to all individual band audio inputs. Any signal here is routed to all bands.
- Low Band Audio In — Individual audio input for the Low-Pass filter band (cutoff 300 Hz shelf filter).
- Mid-High Band Return In — Return input for the Mid-High band, summed into the mix output post-filters.
- Mid-High Band Audio Out — Filtered and VCA-controlled Mid-High band signal for external processing. Plugging in breaks the signal path.
- High Band Return In — Return input for the High band, summed into the mix output post-filters.
- Mid-Low Band Level CV In — CV input controlling the Mid-Low band VCA level. 0 V silences the band, 5 V is unity gain, and voltages above 5 V boost it.
- All CV In — General control voltage input summed with each channel's individual CV input.
- Mid-Low Band Audio Out — Filtered and VCA-controlled Mid-Low band signal for external processing. Plugging in breaks the signal path.
- Mix Peak Meter Red LED — Red clipping indicator for the post-limiter Mix Out signal.
- High Band Audio Out — Filtered and VCA-controlled High band signal for external processing. Plugging in breaks the signal path.
- High Band Level — Controls the gain of the High-Pass filter band VCA. Unity gain at center, silence at bottom, boost above center. Functions as attenuator whe
- Low Band Level CV In — CV input controlling the Low band VCA level. 0 V silences the band, 5 V is unity gain, and voltages above 5 V boost it.
- Mid-High Band Level CV In — CV input controlling the Mid-High band VCA level. 0 V silences the band, 5 V is unity gain, and voltages above 5 V boost it.
- Mix Peak Meter Green LED — Green signal-present indicator for the post-limiter Mix Out signal.
- Mid-High Band Audio In — Individual audio input for the Mid-High Band-Pass filter band (center frequency ~1500 Hz peak filter).
- High Band Audio In — Individual audio input for the High-Pass filter band (cutoff 5 kHz shelf filter).
