Befaco Chopping Kinky
Dual wavefolder with zero-cross chopper output
8 HP Eurorack module
Chopping Kinky is a dual-channel wavefolder by Befaco with a unique chopper output. Each channel has its own distinct waveshaping profile — channel A and channel B fold differently, creating two complementary timbres. The module is DC coupled, so it works equally well with audio signals and CV/LFO/envelope waveshaping. Two CV inputs per channel (one through an attenuverter, one direct) give precise control over fold intensity. The Chopp Out section uses an internal analog switch that alternates between channel outputs based on either an external gate or an automatic zero-crossing detector, enabling rhythmic timbral transitions without additional modules.

Controls & Jacks (14)
- In A — Audio or CV input for wavefolder channel A. Accepts any signal — each channel has its own unique waveshaping profile.
- In B — Audio or CV input for wavefolder channel B. Has a different folding character than channel A.
- Shape A — Manual gain/shape control for wavefolder channel A. Sets the amount of wavefolding — higher settings drive the signal harder into the folder
- Shape B — Manual gain/shape control for wavefolder channel B. Controls folding intensity independently from channel A.
- Chopp In — Gate input for the chopper section. When a gate is present, the Chopp Out connects to channel A. When no gate is present, an internal zero-c
- Attenuverter A — Attenuverter for channel A CV input (5A jack). Controls the level and polarity of CV going to the wavefolder. Center is zero, CW is positive
- Attenuverter B — Attenuverter for channel B CV input (5B jack). Controls the level and polarity of CV going to the wavefolder. Center is zero, CW is positive
- CV A Att — CV input for channel A that passes through the attenuverter knob. Use for modulation sources that need level/polarity control.
- CV A — Direct CV input for channel A — bypasses the attenuverter and goes straight to the internal VCA controlling fold amount.
- CV B — Direct CV input for channel B — bypasses the attenuverter and goes straight to the internal VCA controlling fold amount.
- CV B Att — CV input for channel B that passes through the attenuverter knob. Use for modulation sources that need level/polarity control.
- Out A — Audio output for channel A after waveshaping. Carries the fully processed signal.
- Chopp Out — Chopper output that switches between channel A and channel B. Selection is controlled by the Chopp In gate or an internal zero-crossing dete
- Out B — Audio output for channel B after waveshaping. Carries the fully processed signal.
