The Instrument Interface is Befaco's bridge between the outside world and the modular system. A single GAIN-controlled preamp handles 6.5 mm jack and mini-jack/banana inputs, raising line, instrument, and microphone signals up to Eurorack levels. A band-pass filter with FREQ and WIDTH controls selects which slice of the audio spectrum drives the dynamics circuits. From there a three-position envelope follower extracts a positive control voltage tracking the signal's amplitude, an envelope regenerator with ATTACK and DECAY shapes a re-triggered envelope, and a comparator-based trigger/gate extractor fires GATE and TRIG pulses whenever the envelope crosses the THRESHOLD. The result is a single 11 HP module that turns any acoustic or electric instrument into a usable source of audio, CV, and gates.
