Befaco Iroi
Compact stereo atmospheric processor — filter, VCA, resonator, echo, ambience.
18 HP Eurorack module
Iroi is the right half of Befaco's Oneiroi distilled into 18 HP — a stereo effects module that turns any external signal into a deep, evolving soundscape. Five processors run in series (multimode filter, digital VCA, 3-band resonator, 2-tap ping-pong echo, Schroeder-style ambience) with the Filter-VCA block repositionable anywhere in the chain. An internal modulation source (7 shapes), a parameter randomizer with smooth-morph, and 4 mappable CV inputs make the module fully voltage-controllable, with all settings saveable to nonvolatile memory.
Features
- OWL3-based DSP — 24-bit / 48 kHz stereo path with 32-bit internal processing
- Five effect units in series: multimode filter → digital VCA → 3-band resonator → 2-tap stereo echo → Schroeder-style ambience
- Filter-VCA block can be moved to one of four positions in the chain (SHIFT + Resonance)
- Multimode filter with low-pass / band-pass / high-pass / comb modes (SHIFT + Cutoff)
- Built-in chaotic noise generator activates at >75% resonance
- Resonator self-oscillates at 100% feedback; Dissonance control modifies harmonic ratios
- 2-tap ping-pong echo (10 ms to 6 s) with built-in DJ-style filter (SHIFT + Density)
- Reverse-reverb mode when Spacetime is below 50%
- Auto-pan with 16 selectable ratios up to 8x base frequency (SHIFT + Spacetime)
- 7 internal modulation shapes: Chaos, Sine, Ramp, Saw, Square, S&H, Envelope Follower
- Modulation routable to any knob-controlled parameter via the MAP system
- External CV mapping system: 4 mappable CV inputs assignable to any primary or SHIFT-secondary parameter

How-To Guides
- Stereo ambient pad from a mono drone
- Sync-locked dub-style ping-pong delay
- Self-oscillating resonator as a voice
- Generative texture via the parameter randomizer
