Befaco MEX
Eight-step gate sequencer expansion for Muxlicer
4 HP Eurorack module
MEX is an 8-step gate sequencer expansion module for the Befaco Muxlicer, adding a parallel gate pattern layer that follows Muxlicer's internal clock. Each step can independently pass the Muxlicer gate signal, silence, or route an external gate/clock input, enabling complex rhythmic variations from a single sequencer source.
Features
- 8-step gate sequencer synchronized to Muxlicer internal clock
- Three-position switch per step for independent mode selection per step
- Gate In jack normalized to Muxlicer Clock Out for clock multiplication or division routing
- Gate In acts as a comparator accepting any analog signal
- Main Gate Out combining all active step signals
- Powered directly from Muxlicer expansion port, no separate power connector needed
- THRU connector allows chaining multiple MEX units in series
- Compatible with Muxlicer clock-continues-when-stopped feature
- Non-quadratic clock divisions on Muxlicer Clock Out can be removed, affecting MEX Pass In mode behavior
Controls & Jacks (35)
- Gate In — Gate input, normalized to Muxlicer's Clock Out. Receives the signal to pass through in Pass In mode.
- Gate Out — Main gate output that sends the processed 8-step gate sequence.
- Step 1 Mode — Three-position switch to select mode for step 1: Pass In (left), No Gates (center), or All Gates (right)
- Step 2 Mode — Three-position switch to select mode for step 2: Pass In (left), No Gates (center), or All Gates (right)
- Step 3 Mode — Three-position switch to select mode for step 3: Pass In (left), No Gates (center), or All Gates (right)
- Step 4 Mode — Three-position switch to select mode for step 4: Pass In (left), No Gates (center), or All Gates (right)
- Step 5 Mode — Three-position switch to select mode for step 5: Pass In (left), No Gates (center), or All Gates (right)
