Noise Engineering Clep Diaz
Compact clocked step CV and LFO generator
4 HP Eurorack module
Clep Diaz is a compact 4HP step CV generator and LFO that produces sequenced control voltages, randomized step patterns, or smooth noise LFOs clocked by an external source. It offers directional control over sequences, CV-controllable step count, and both unipolar and bipolar outputs, making it a versatile modulation source for shaping timbre, pitch offset, panning, or any CV destination. Its musical character ranges from orderly stepped sequences to unpredictable generative motion.
Features
- Three operation modes: Step, Random, and LFO
- Directional step control: up, up/down, and down
- Count encoder sets number of steps (Step/Random) or amplitude (LFO)
- Tap encoder to mute/unmute output
- CV input for external control over number of steps in the cycle
- Beginning of Cycle trigger output fires at the start of each cycle
- Both unipolar (0V to 5V) and bipolar (-5V to 5V) outputs
- Outputs are not quantized
- LED counter with divisibility indicators (dim = divisible by 3, bright = divisible by 4)
- Reset input for externally resetting the pattern
- Maximum 32 steps in up or down modes, 63 steps in up/down mode
- Responds to clock/reset signals of at least 2.2V
Controls & Jacks (16)
- step/rand/lfo — Selects between Step, Random, and LFO modes for CV generation
- Top — Glows dimly if step count is divisible by 3, brightly if divisible by 4
- up/updn/dn — Controls directionality: Up, Up/Down, or Down. In LFO mode, controls wave symmetry.
- Count — Controls number of steps in Step/Random modes or amplitude in LFO mode. LED counter shows current step count. Tap to mute/unmute.
- Count LED 1 — Step count indicator LED
- Count LED 2 — Step count indicator LED
- Step — Controls the step size or voltage increment per step in the sequence.
- Count LED 3 — Step count indicator LED
- Count LED 4 — Step count indicator LED
- Count LED 5 — Step count indicator LED
- Rst — Optional clock input to reset Clep Diaz at the beginning of the pattern
- BOC — Outputs a single trigger pulse at the beginning of each cycle
- Clk — Clock input that advances the current step
- CV — CV input for control over the number of steps in the cycle
- Bi — Bipolar CV output ranging -5V to 5V
- Uni — Unipolar CV output ranging 0V to 5V
