Qu-Bit Electronix Data Bender
Circuit-bent digital buffer for beautiful failures
14 HP Eurorack module
Data Bender is a circuit-bent digital audio buffer that captures the aesthetics of failure — skipping CDs, software glitches, and dying tape machines. It feels like controlled chaos, letting you explore the musical beauty found in broken technology through voltage-controlled manipulation of a high-quality 96kHz stereo buffer.
Features
- Over 1 minute of stereo buffer time
- Circuit-bent inspired digital manipulations
- 1V/Oct tracking in Micro Mode
- Stereo I/O with enhancement control
- Internal and external clock modes
- Voltage-controlled everything
- Settings stored between power cycles
- Adjustable LED brightness
- CV attenuators for all inputs
Controls & Jacks (30)
- Repeats — Sets the sample period for incoming audio. In internal clock mode, ranges from 16 seconds to 80Hz. In external clock mode, acts as divide/mu
- Mode — Modifier button for accessing secondary functions on all other controls.
- Shift — Toggles between internal clock (blue LED) and external clock (white LED) modes.
- Corrupt — Divides the primary buffer into smaller subsections of repeated audio. Higher values create more divisions and faster apparent playback.
- Clock — Toggles Break effect on/off. In Micro mode toggles between Traverse and Silence.
- Freeze — Cycles through 5 Corrupt effects: Decimate (blue), Dropout (green), Destroy (gold), DJ Filter (purple), Vinyl Sim (orange).
- Break — Controls dry/wet balance. Fully CCW is dry signal only, fully CW is wet signal only.
- Bend — Interchangeable end-of-chain effect with 5 modes: Decimate (bit crush), Dropout, Destroy (saturation/clipping), DJ Filter, and Vinyl Sim. Fu
- Time — Macro mode: automated tape-style manipulations (vari-speed, reverse, vinyl clicks, tape stop). Micro mode: playback speed control with 1V/Oc
- Mix — Macro mode: automated digital glitches (CD skip, stutters, dropouts). Micro mode: Traverse selects buffer subsection, Silence introduces dut
- Clock CV In — Toggles Break effect on/off. In Micro mode toggles between Traverse and Silence.
- Bend Gate — input gate
- Break Gate — input gate
- Corrupt Gate — input gate
- Freeze CV In — Cycles through 5 Corrupt effects: Decimate (blue), Dropout (green), Destroy (gold), DJ Filter (purple), Vinyl Sim (orange).
