Noise Engineering Desmodus Versio
Versatile vampire stereo reverb and DSP platform
10 HP Eurorack module
Desmodus Versio is a true stereo in/stereo out synthetic tail reverb and DSP platform with a dark, atmospheric character. Rather than simulating rooms, it generates uncanny synthetic reverb tails that can range from clean delays to lush reverbs to demonic shimmering atmospheres. Its flexible architecture supports infinite feedback, sidechain-style ducking, pitch-shifting shimmer, and self-oscillation, making it a powerful sound design and performance tool.
Features
- True stereo in / stereo out reverb — mono in normaled to both channels
- Synthetic tail generator, not a room simulator
- FSU button and gate input for maxing Regen and muting input instantly
- Sidechain-style ducking when Regen is past 3 o'clock
- Shimmer mode with one-octave pitch-shifting feedback algorithm
- Bipolar Tone control: lowpass filter left, highpass filter right
- Bipolar Index control: random LFO modulation left, sine LFO modulation right
- Three reverb style modes: LIM, DST, SHM
- Three delay line response modes: BND, LRP, JMP
- CV inputs for all major parameters: Blend, Tone, Regen, Speed, Index, Size, Dense
- Gate input for FSU function (responds above +2V)
- Firmware-swappable via USB — part of the Versio DSP platform
Controls & Jacks (28)
- Blend — Dry/wet balance control. Left = unmodified input, right = only processed signal.
- Regen 1 — Amount of feedback in reverb tank. Past 12 o'clock = infinite tail, past 3 o'clock = sidechain ducking effects.
- Dense — Spacing of delay lines. Left = more like a delay, right = delays smeared into reverb.
- Speed — Speed of internal LFO that modulates delay lines. Amount controlled by Index parameter.
- Index — Amount of LFO sent to delay lines. Bipolar: center = disabled, left = random modulation, right = sine wave modulation.
- Size — Delay time of the reverb. Controls overall reverb size.
- Tone — Bipolar filter in reverb tank. Left = lowpass, right = highpass, center = disabled.
- Delay Response — Three-way switch selecting delay line response: BND (smooth crossfade), LRP (slow interpolation with pitch shift), or JMP (quick jump).
- Out R — Right stereo output.
- Out L — Left stereo output.
- Regen CV — CV modulation for Regen parameter.
- FSU Gate — Gate input for FSU function. Responds to signals above +2V.
- Tone CV — CV modulation for Tone parameter.
- In R — Right audio input.
- Index CV — CV modulation for Index parameter.
- Dense CV — CV modulation for Dense parameter.
- Size CV — CV modulation for Size parameter.
- In L — Left audio input. Normaled to right if unplugged.
- Blend CV — CV modulation for Blend parameter.
- Reverb Style — Three-way switch selecting reverb algorithm: LIM (clean limiting), DST (saturation), or SHM (pitch-shifting shimmer).
- Speed CV — CV modulation for Speed parameter.
- FSU — Maxes out Regen and mutes input to reverb when pressed or when high gate is sent to FSU input.

- Regen 2 — Amount of feedback in reverb tank. Past 12 o'clock = infinite tail, past 3 o'clock = sidechain ducking effects.
