Dystopia is a Dreadbox noise-crush-filter module that combines bit-crushing, sample rate reduction, and dual colored noise generators (pink and blue) with independent filters. It can process external audio or generate its own noise textures with CV control over all parameters.
Features
- Internal white noise generator cancelled by external input
- ODDS control sets probability of gate/scatter events (0-5V output)
- BITS control sets bit crush clock frequency
- Pink noise output with filter roll off control (sends +/-5V)
- Blue noise output with filter roll off control (sends +/-5V)
- SCATTER output passes high-odds noise events at +/-5V
- CRUSH output sends bit-crushed noise at +/-5V
- EXT IN accepts +/-5V signals
- In external mode: SCATTER becomes negative voltage slicer
- In external mode: ODDS Out becomes distortion with BITS as frequency control
- In external mode: CRUSH becomes bit crusher
- In external mode: PINK Out becomes 12dB/oct low pass filter

- Ext In — External audio input for processing through the noise/crush/filter circuit
- CV 1 — CV input for modulating the Odds parameter
- CV 2 — CV input for modulating the Bits parameter
- CV 3 — CV input for modulating the Pink Filter cutoff
- Scatter — CV input for randomizing internal signal routing
- CV 4 — CV input for modulating the Blue Filter cutoff
- CV 5 — CV input for additional modulation
- Odds LED — LED showing Odds probability state
- Bits LED — LED showing Bits reduction state
- Pink LED — LED showing Pink noise filter activity
- Blue LED — LED showing Blue noise filter activity
- Odds — Controls the probability of bit-crushing artifacts applied to the audio signal
- Bits — Controls bit depth reduction for harsh digital distortion and aliasing
- Pink Filter — Controls the cutoff frequency of the pink noise filter section
- Blue Filter — Controls the cutoff frequency of the blue noise filter section
- Gate — Gate input for triggering the noise/crush effect
- Crush Out — Audio output from the bit-crusher section
- Pink Out — Audio output from the pink noise filter section
- Blue Out — Audio output from the blue noise filter section
