CR-78 inspired 7-voice hybrid analog drum synthesizer with FX

30 HP Eurorack module

BLCK_NOIR is a 30HP hybrid analog drum module inspired by the Roland CR-78, featuring 7 drum voices organized into 5 channel groups: bass drum, snare drum, tambourine, closed/open hi-hats, and metallic beat/cymbal. Sound generation uses band-limited digital noise with spectrum animation fed into discrete analog circuits built with inductor coils rather than op-amps. Each voice has individual trigger and velocity inputs, plus an individual output that disconnects from the main mix when patched. The module includes an isolator-style state-variable filter (Throttle/Flaps) on the main outputs and a Cabin Pressure digital effects processor with two banks of 8 effects each (Airways ambient and Darkwaves percussive), upgradeable via audio firmware updates.

Features

  • 7 analog drum voices: BD, SD, TB, CH, OH, MB, CY
  • CR-78 inspired hybrid sound generation
  • Discrete analog circuits using inductor coils instead of op-amps
  • Band-limited digital noise generators at 90kHz sample rate
  • Individual outputs per channel group (disconnect from mix when patched)
  • Per-channel velocity/VCA CV inputs for dynamics
  • Thrust and Spoiler global noise character controls with CV
  • 12dB/oct zero-delay state-variable isolator filter (Throttle/Flaps)
  • Cabin Pressure effect processor with 16 effects in 2 banks
  • Darkwaves bank: gated reverb, spring, reverse, flanger, ring mod, overdrive, compressor, freezer
  • Airways bank: hall, shimmer, room, plate, spring, ping-pong delay, tape echo, chorus
  • Per-channel FX enable switches with alternative routing mode
