Ethereal Electronics Shooting Stars
Random melody synthesis from outer space
16 HP Eurorack module
A stochastic Eurorack CV sequencer for generating and evolving quantized melodies. Four encoders shape the sequence, CV animates it, and Save/Recall transitions between parameter states.
Features
- Shapes stochastic melodies through high-level sequence controls instead of requiring notes to be programmed individually.
- Supports CV animation, sequence variation, and timed transitions between saved and current parameter states.
- Animated LEDs visualize notes, pitch, gates, accents, and modulation states.
- Provides two 0–5 V 1 V/oct note outputs; Note 2 applies its offset before quantization, producing a diatonic interval.
- Quantizes around a root supplied through the −5 to +5 V Root Input.
- Drift Output supplies 0–5 V controlled by Drift, saved transitions, and the Accents setting.
- Configuration-menu settings persist in the module's memory.
Controls & Jacks (26)
- Root Offset— Offsets the root received at the Root Input by 0–12 semitones before scale quantization.
- Rest / Transition Time— Turn to set the probability that a sequence step is a rest, with its gate held low.
- Mean CV Amount— Adjusts the Mean CV modulation amount.
- Mean / Steps— Turn to set the average pitch of the generated sequence.
- Drift / Settings— Turn to set the voltage produced at the Drift Output.
- Range / Scale— Turn to set the pitch range of the generated sequence.
- Note 2 Offset— Sets Note 2 from 0–12 semitones above Note 1 before quantization, producing a diatonic rather than chromatic offset.
- Restart Input— A trigger returns playback to the beginning of the current sequence.
- Range CV Amount— Adjusts the Range CV modulation amount.
- Drift Output— Outputs a variable 0–5 V control voltage set by the Drift encoder and modified by saved transitions and the Accents setting.
- Note 1 Output— Primary quantized 1 V/oct sequence output with a 0–5 V range.
- Drift / Settings Display— Displays Drift and settings-menu values for the fourth encoder, participates in animated note feedback, highlights the selected setting in r
- Range CV Input— A −5 to +5 V modulation input for the sequence's pitch range.
- Mean / Steps Display— Displays Mean or sequence length for the second encoder, participates in animated note feedback, identifies the active second settings-menu
- Note 2 Output— Second quantized 1 V/oct output from 0–5 V, offset diatonically from Note 1 by the Note 2 Offset control.
- Rest / Transition Display— Displays Rest probability or transition time for the first encoder, participates in animated note feedback, identifies the active first sett
- Clock Input— Advances the sequence by one note on each clock pulse.
- Recall Morph CV— A 0–5 V input that continuously interpolates the parameters between the saved state and the current encoder settings; patching it disables R
- Gate Output— Outputs a pulse for each generated note; the settings menu selects trigger behavior or variable gate length.
- Save / Recall— Short-press to jump to the saved state and begin a transition toward the current encoder settings; this action is disabled while Recall Morp
- Clock / Reseed— Short-press to advance the sequence to its next note, like a pulse at the Clock Input.
- Reseed Input— A trigger discards the current sequence and generates a new one.
- Mean CV Input— A −5 to +5 V modulation input for the sequence's mean pitch.
- Root Input— A −5 to +5 V 1 V/oct input that determines the root note used for scale quantization; it also accepts the firmware-update audio signal in bo
- Range / Scale Display— Displays Range or scale selection for the third encoder, participates in animated note feedback, identifies the active third settings-menu i
- Recall Trigger— A trigger jumps to the saved parameter state and starts the programmed transition; it is disabled while the Recall Morph CV input is patched
How-To Guides
