Folktek Matter II
Analog drum wave synthesis via pin matrix patching
18 HP Eurorack module
Matter II is an analog drum wave synthesizer for Eurorack that uses a pin matrix patch bay to generate and blend percussive, drone, and noise sounds from three independent drum wave sections. It can also process external audio through fuzz, filtering, and heavy distortion, with a vactrol allowing CV or gate-controlled amplitude shaping. Its musical character ranges from tight electronic percussion to sprawling industrial drones and chaotic noise textures.
Features
- Three independent analog drum wave synthesis sections
- Two 18-point pin matrix patch bays per section (six matrices total across three sections)
- Gold 2mm banana plug pins included and replaceable
- Front panel extra holes to store inactive pins
- Control knobs function as resistive blend and shape control (equivalent to Sidekick module)
- CV input over each control knob
- LED indication on each matrix center showing knob and CV position
- V+ inputs accept CV, gate, or audio for triggering or audio processing
- LED indication on each V+ input
- Multi-pin matrix connections generate drone without triggering
- External audio processing via fuzz, filtering, and heavy distortion
- Vactrol over audio output for CV or gate-controlled amplitude gating
Controls & Jacks (11)
- CV 1 — CV input that modulates the Section 1 Control knob position. Accepts standard Eurorack CV or gate signals for automated timbral changes.
- VAC V+ — Vactrol-based voltage input. Accepts CV or gate to open/close the vactrol amplitude gate on the audio output. When patched, audio only passe
- CV 2 — CV input that modulates the Section 2 Control knob position. Accepts standard Eurorack CV or gate signals for automated timbral changes.
- Out — Main mono audio output carrying the mixed signal from all three drum wave sections. 10V peak-to-peak level. Signal passes through the vactro
- CV 3 — CV input that modulates the Section 3 Control knob position. Accepts standard Eurorack CV or gate signals for automated timbral changes.
- V+ 1 — Trigger/gate input for Section 1. Accepts CV, gate, or trigger to activate drum wave sounds. When audio is patched here instead, Section 1 s
- V+ 2 — Trigger/gate input for Section 2. Same behavior as V+ 1 — gate/trigger activates drum wave; audio signal converts Section 2 into a fuzz/filt
- V+ 3 — Trigger/gate input for Section 3. Same behavior as V+ 1 — gate/trigger activates drum wave; audio signal converts Section 3 into a fuzz/filt
- Section 1 Control — Blends and shapes the sound generated by connections in Pin Matrix 1. Functions as a resistive blend control — adjusting it changes the timb
- Section 2 Control — Blends and shapes the sound generated by connections in Pin Matrix 2. Identical in function to Section 1 Control but governs the second drum
- Section 3 Control — Blends and shapes the sound generated by connections in Pin Matrix 3. Identical in function to Sections 1 and 2 but governs the third drum w
