Frap Tools Fumana

Dual 16-band all-analog spectral editor and vocoder

42 HP Eurorack module

FUMANA is a dual all-analog fixed filter bank featuring two arrays of 16 independent bandpass filters. The main array (48 dB/oct) processes audio while the modulation array (36 dB/oct) extracts 16 envelope followers for spectral transfer. Bands are split into odd (1,3,5...15) and even (2,4,6...16) groups with independent inputs and outputs, enabling dual 8-band processing, stereo spread, or full 16-band spectral editing. Four macro controls (Tilt, Peak/Notch, Center, Width) provide voltage-controllable global spectral shaping, and an Unvoiced section adds fricative/sibilant detail for vocoder applications.

Features

  • Dual 16-band all-analog fixed filter bank
  • 32 bandpass filters total: 16 main (48 dB/oct) + 16 modulation (36 dB/oct)
  • 16 voltage-controllable VCA faders with individual CV inputs
  • 16 envelope followers with independent outputs
  • Spectral transfer (vocoding) via semi-normalled envelope followers to VCAs
  • Parametric scanner with Peak/Notch, Center, and Width controls
  • Global Tilt control for spectral balance shifting
  • All four macro controls are voltage-controllable with attenuverters
  • Odd/Even band splitting for dual 8-band processing or stereo spread
  • Semi-normalled Main and Mod inputs (single cable feeds both odd and even)
  • 16 pre-VCA individual band outputs
  • Unvoiced section for fricative/sibilant reproduction during vocoding
