Instruo Cnōc
Compact analogue function generator with AR, ASR, and looping modes
4 HP Eurorack module
The Instruo Cnōc is a fully analogue voltage-controlled two-stage function generator in just 4HP. Descended from the West Coast synthesis tradition, it goes well beyond a simple envelope generator. It can serve as an AR or ASR envelope, a looping LFO (from ~0.05Hz to ~1kHz), a delayed gate generator, or a slew limiter for adding portamento to pitch sequences. Dual outputs provide both bipolar (±5V) and unipolar positive (0–10V) signals simultaneously.
Features
- Fully analogue voltage-controlled two-stage function generator
- AR, ASR, and Looping envelope modes via 3-position toggle
- Bipolar (±5V, 10Vpp) and unipolar positive (0–10V) simultaneous outputs
- End-of-cycle (EOC) trigger output for chaining and sequencing
- Assignable gate output follows either Attack or Release stage
- Linear or logarithmic/exponential response curve selection
- External CV control over Attack and Release parameters
- Manual trigger button with soft sync charge direction control
- Looping mode cycles from ~1ms (~1kHz) to ~20s (~0.05Hz)
- Functions as envelope generator, LFO, delayed gate, or slew limiter
Controls & Jacks (13)
- Bipolar Output — Bipolar CV output. Range: 10Vpp.
- Unipolar Positive Output — Unipolar positive CV output. Range: 0V to 10V.
- EOC Output — Outputs a 1ms trigger at the end of each cycle. Output voltage: 10V.
- Gate Output — Gate signal during Attack or Release stage (set by Stage Gate toggle). Output voltage: 10V.
- Trigger — Manually triggers the function and controls soft sync of charge direction.
- Stage Gate — Selects whether Gate output follows the Attack stage or the Release stage.
- Response Curve — Left: linear response curve. Right: logarithmic attack / exponential release.
- Attack — Sets the onset duration of the function. Higher = longer attack time. LED illuminates with ascending voltage.
- Release — Sets the return-to-start duration after attack completes. Higher = longer release. LED illuminates with descending voltage.
- Attack CV Input — Bipolar CV input for Attack parameter. Summed with fader position.
- Release CV Input — Bipolar CV input for Release parameter. Summed with fader position.
- Mode — Left: ASR (Attack/Sustain/Release). Center: AR (Attack/Release). Right: Looping (~1ms to ~20s cycle).
- Signal Input — Bipolar input for function generation. Accepts trigger, gate, or CV (in ASR mode for slew limiting).
