Instruo Làrachd
Analogue external input utility with envelope follower and footswitch interface
8 HP Eurorack module
The Instruo Làrachd is a fully analogue multifunction utility module that provides various methods of interfacing external signals and interactions into musically useful control voltage signals. It features a stereo line level to dual mono modular level converter, on-board condenser microphone, audio enhancement circuit with tangential distortion, envelope follower with threshold comparator, and dual footswitch interface with included footswitch pedal.
Features
- Stereo line level to dual mono modular level conversion with up to +40dB gain
- On-board condenser microphone (same implementation as arbhar)
- Audio enhancement circuit based on tangential distortion limiting (tanh) with soft clipping and waveshaping
- Envelope follower with selectable linear or logarithmic/exponential response curves
- Positive and negative unipolar envelope CV outputs
- Threshold comparator with adjustable threshold and gate output
- Dual footswitch interface with included 1/4 inch dual footswitch pedal
- A button trigger output with adjustable duration (5ms-500ms)
- A and B button gate outputs
- Front-panel latching gate button with illuminated indicator
- Normalled source routing between stereo input and microphone via three-position toggle
- TRS stereo input splits to separate Left (Tip) and Right (Ring) mono outputs
Controls & Jacks (26)
- Stereo Line In — Stereo input for line level to modular level conversion. TRS jack splits to Left (Tip) and Right (Ring) outputs.
- Gain — Manual level control for the signal at the Stereo Line Input. Unity at full counter-clockwise, up to +40dB gain.
- Left Out — Mono split output of the stereo signal (Tip) present at the Stereo Line Input.
- Right Out — Mono split output of the stereo signal (Ring) present at the Stereo Line Input. If unpatched, signal sums with Left Out.
- Output Indicator — LED indication of the signal present at the Left Output.
- Source — Toggle that switches the normalled input source of the Enhance Input and Envelope Follower Input. Up: stereo line, Center: muted, Down: micr
- Enhance In — Mono input for audio enhancement. Uses tangential distortion limiting, soft clipping, and waveshaping. Normalled to Stereo Line or Microphon
- Enhance Level — Manual level control for waveshaping over the signal at the Enhance Input or normalled source.
- Enhance Out — Mono output of the audio enhancement circuit.
- Follower In — Input for envelope follower. Normalled to Stereo Line or Microphone via Source toggle. Patching breaks the normal.
- Response Curve — Switch that selects the response curve of the envelope signal. Left: linear attack/release. Right: logarithmic attack, exponential release.
- Attack — Manual attack time control for the generated envelope signal. Additive to the envelope. Max slew rate approximately 1V/second.
- Release — Manual decay time control for the generated envelope signal. Additive to the envelope. Max slew rate approximately 1V/second.
- Envelope Out — Unipolar positive envelope output.
- Negative Envelope Out — Unipolar negative envelope output.
- Threshold — Manual control that sets the threshold of the comparator. When input signal exceeds this level, a gate is generated.
- Comparator Gate Out — Gate output of the comparator. Goes high when the input signal exceeds the Threshold level.
- Comparator Indicator — LED indication of the comparator gate output state.
- Pedal In — 1/4 inch (6.35mm) input for the included Dual Footswitch or other compatible footswitch controllers.
- Duration — Manual duration control of the trigger signal generated at the A Trigger Out when the A button is pressed. Range: 5ms to 500ms.
- Trig Indicator — LED indication of the signal present at the A Trigger Out.
- A Trig Out — Trigger output generated when the A button of the Dual Footswitch is pressed. Duration set by the Duration knob.
- Gate Indicator — LED indication of the signal present at the A Gate Out.
- A Gate Out — Gate output. Held high as long as the A button of the Dual Footswitch is pressed.
- B Gate Out — Gate output. Held high as long as the B button (right) of the Dual Footswitch is pressed.
- Latching Gate — Illuminated on-panel button that provides a latching gate signal at the B Gate Out. Press to toggle gate on/off.
