The Instruo tanh[3] is a three-channel analogue waveshaper, limiter, overdrive, and feedback controller in just 4HP. Each channel applies the hyperbolic tangent function (tanh) to its input signal, producing soft clipping that adds harmonic content based on input amplitude. At low Level settings the signal passes through with gentle attenuation; as Level increases, waveform corners soften (triangle becomes sine), then further increase introduces warm overdrive and eventually a unique pentagon-shaped waveform. The effect is sonically similar to compression but achieved through waveshaping rather than gain reduction. All three channels are DC coupled and fully independent, making the module equally useful for audio waveshaping, CV limiting, and taming feedback in delay/reverb loops.
