Klavis Terminal 4

Quad VCA, LPG, envelope, and stereo mixer in 8HP

8 HP Eurorack module

Terminal 4 is a compact quad VCA, low-pass gate, and envelope generator combined with a matrix mixer and stereo imager. It offers pristine DC-coupled signal control with organic LPG emulations, expressive built-in envelopes, and flexible stereo panning, making it equally at home shaping percussive transients, sculpting drones, or acting as a final stereo mix stage.

Features

  • Four independent DC-coupled VCAs with zero-crossing click prevention
  • Three LPG modes: 6dB/oct soft vactrol, 12dB/oct classic vactrol, 24dB/oct LPG/VCF hybrid with resonant OTA
  • Four built-in envelope generators with 8 template shapes (ADR, AR, ASR, ADSR variants)
  • Lin/Log response shaping for both external CV and internal EG segments
  • Stereo mode for channel pairs 1-2 and 3-4 with balance control and balance CV
  • Automatic matrix mixer: unconnected outputs cascade into next channel
  • Constant loudness law in stereo balance to maintain perceived volume
  • Offset control to add drone/always-open level independent of CV
  • Per-channel red clipping LEDs indicating VCA saturation
  • Potentiometer LED matching indicator for parameter pickup when switching channels
  • Bipolar Level CV support (combine with Offset for full negative CV modulation)
  • DC-coupled inputs and outputs supporting audio, modulation, and gate signals

Controls & Jacks (41)

  • Level— Controls the amplitude of the VCA/LPG opening and the generated envelope level; behavior depends on signal input presence
  • Time— Controls duration of the longest segment in the envelope template, ranging from disabled to 8 seconds
  • Signal Input 3— Audio or modulation signal input for Channel 3
  • Offset/Balance— In mono: controls offset to allow signal pass-through without modulation. In stereo: controls balance between channel pairs; function determ
  • Level/Bal/Gate Input 1— CV control for Channel 1 amplitude or gate/trigger for EG
  • Level/Bal/Gate Input 2— CV control for Channel 2 amplitude or balance in stereo mode
  • Level/Bal/Gate Input 3— CV control for Channel 3 amplitude or gate/trigger for EG
  • Level/Bal/Gate Input 4— CV control for Channel 4 amplitude or balance in stereo mode
  • Signal Input 4— Audio or modulation signal input for Channel 4
  • Signal Output 3— Processed audio or envelope CV output for Channel 3
  • Signal Input 1— Audio or modulation signal input for Channel 1
  • Signal Output 4— Processed audio output for Channel 4
  • Signal Output 2— Processed audio output for Channel 2
  • Envelope Template— Selects envelope generator template: ADR, AR, ASR, or ADSR configurations
  • Signal Input 2— Audio or modulation signal input for Channel 2
  • Signal Output 1— Processed audio or envelope CV output for Channel 1
  • Lin/Log— Controls envelope and CV response curve; Lin preserves signal shape, Log applies curvature for exponential-like responses
  • Channel 4 Selected— White LED indicating Channel 4 is selected for editing
  • Channel 2 Selected— White LED indicating Channel 2 is selected for editing
  • Lin/Log Match— White LED indicating when knob position matches the current Lin/Log setting
  • Time Match— White LED indicating when knob position matches the current Time setting
  • Envelope Template Match— White LED indicating when knob position matches the current envelope template setting
  • Offset/Balance Match— White LED indicating when knob position matches the current Offset/Balance setting
  • Clip 4— Red LED indicating control clipping on Channel 4
  • Stereo 3-4— Blue LED indicating stereo mode is active for channels 3-4
  • Channel 1 Selected— White LED indicating Channel 1 is selected for editing
  • EG— Green LED indicating envelope generator is active
