René 2 is a three-channel, three-dimensional Cartesian sequencer for Eurorack modular synthesizers, featuring two independent Snake pattern channels (X/Red and Y/Green) plus a Cartesian channel (C/Orange) whose position is determined by the intersection of the X and Y axes. With 64 storable States, onboard quantizers per channel, glide, and a Z-axis for navigating between states via CV or gate, René 2 transforms simple two-clock inputs into richly evolving, algorithmically complex melodic and rhythmic compositions.

- 64 storable States in 4 banks of 16, selectable via Z-axis
- Z-MOD input for gate-driven State stepping
- Z-CV input for voltage-addressed State selection or global reset
Controls & Jacks (55)
- C-GT — Combined gate output. Outputs a gate signal when any axis triggers a step with its gate enabled.
- X-CLK — Clock input for X/Red channel sequence navigation
- X-RST — Reset input for the X axis. Receiving a trigger returns the X sequencer position to step 1.
- X-MOD — CV input for X channel modulation
- X-CV — CV level control for X channel output
- X-GLIDE — CV input to modulate glide/portamento amount on the X axis output.
- X-CV Pot — Attenuverter for X channel CV input
- Y-CLK — Clock input for the Y axis. Each trigger advances the Y sequencer position by one step.
- Y-MOD — CV input for Y channel modulation
- X-G — Gate level control for X channel output
- Y-CV — CV level control for Y channel output
- C-CV — CV level control for Cartesian channel output
- C-G — Gate level control for Cartesian channel output
- C-ALT — Alternate CV output for the C (combined) channel. Outputs modulation CV based on the combined sequencer state.
- Y-G — Gate output for the Y axis. Fires a gate when the Y sequencer reaches a step with its gate enabled.
- X — Selects the X axis for editing. When held, accesses X-axis programming pages for path, quantization, and glide settings.
- Y-CV Pot — Clock input for Y/Green channel sequence navigation
- State — Accesses the state storage system. Hold to save or recall stored sequencer states including step values, gates, and path settings.
- Left Nav — Navigates to the previous Program Page in the sequence (ACCESS → QUANT wraps around). When pressed simultaneously with the Right Navigation
- State — Flashes on STATE change; color indicates current BANK: Blue=1, Orange=2, Red=3, Green=4
- Bank — Selects the active bank of stored states. René 2 has multiple banks for organizing different sequence configurations.
- Y — Flash in channel color (red/green/orange) to indicate Gate output activity for X, Y, and C channels
- X Channel — Select X channel program pages
- Step 1 — Sets the CV value for step 1 in the 4x4 sequencer grid (row 1, column 1). Controls pitch or modulation voltage for this step.
- Step 2 — Sets the CV value for step 2 in the 4x4 sequencer grid (row 1, column 2). Controls pitch or modulation voltage for this step.
- Step 3 — Sets the CV value for step 3 in the 4x4 sequencer grid (row 1, column 3). Controls pitch or modulation voltage for this step.
- Step 4 — Sets the CV value for step 4 in the 4x4 sequencer grid (row 1, column 4). Controls pitch or modulation voltage for this step.
- Gate 1 — Toggles the gate on/off for step 1 in the 4x4 grid (row 1, column 1). When active, a gate signal fires when the sequencer reaches this step.
- Gate 2 — Toggles the gate on/off for step 2 in the 4x4 grid (row 1, column 2). When active, a gate signal fires when the sequencer reaches this step.
- Gate 3 — Toggles the gate on/off for step 3 in the 4x4 grid (row 1, column 3). When active, a gate signal fires when the sequencer reaches this step.
- Gate 4 — Toggles the gate on/off for step 4 in the 4x4 grid (row 1, column 4). When active, a gate signal fires when the sequencer reaches this step.
- Step 5 — Sets the CV value for step 5 in the 4x4 sequencer grid (row 2, column 1). Controls pitch or modulation voltage for this step.
- Step 6 — Sets the CV value for step 6 in the 4x4 sequencer grid (row 2, column 2). Controls pitch or modulation voltage for this step.
- Step 7 — Sets the CV value for step 7 in the 4x4 sequencer grid (row 2, column 3). Controls pitch or modulation voltage for this step.
- Step 8 — Sets the CV value for step 8 in the 4x4 sequencer grid (row 2, column 4). Controls pitch or modulation voltage for this step.
- Gate 5 — Toggles the gate on/off for step 5 in the 4x4 grid (row 2, column 1). When active, a gate signal fires when the sequencer reaches this step.
- Gate 6 — Toggles the gate on/off for step 6 in the 4x4 grid (row 2, column 2). When active, a gate signal fires when the sequencer reaches this step.
- Gate 7 — Toggles the gate on/off for step 7 in the 4x4 grid (row 2, column 3). When active, a gate signal fires when the sequencer reaches this step.
- Gate 8 — Toggles the gate on/off for step 8 in the 4x4 grid (row 2, column 4). When active, a gate signal fires when the sequencer reaches this step.
- Step 9 — Sets the CV value for step 9 in the 4x4 sequencer grid (row 3, column 1). Controls pitch or modulation voltage for this step.
- Step 10 — Sets the CV value for step 10 in the 4x4 sequencer grid (row 3, column 2). Controls pitch or modulation voltage for this step.
