Maneco Labs MicroGrone
Bytebeat Synthesizer + Effects Processor
10 HP Eurorack module
MicroGrone is a self-contained Eurorack bytebeat synthesizer with 16 programs, three voltage-controlled equation parameters, variable sample rate, an eight-waveform filter LFO, an analog VCF, and three selectable digital effects algorithms derived from the Alesis Midiverb.
Features
- A 16-program bytebeat engine with three voltage-controlled equation parameters, variable sample rate, an eight-waveform LFO, and an analog VCF.
- Bytebeat sample-rate range of 256 Hz to 16,384 Hz.
- Four 1-2-4-8 LEDs display the current program number from 1 to 16 in binary.
- Eight LFO shapes: Ramp Up, Ramp Down, Pulse, Triangle, Sine, Sweep, Random Levels (sample and hold), and Random Slopes.
- PITCH accepts voltage control for pitch or parameter modulation.
- F IN routes external audio through the VCF and effects chain.
Controls & Jacks (22)
- DEPTH— Sets the amount of LFO modulation applied to the filter cutoff.
- A2— Controls equation variable C; its effective range and behavior vary with the selected bytebeat program.
- BLEND— Blends the dry bytebeat signal with the processed digital-effects output.
- WAVE— Selects one of eight LFO shapes: ramp up, ramp down, pulse, triangle, sine, sweep, random levels, or random slopes.
- EFX— Three-position ON-OFF-ON selector: up chooses Reverse Regen reverb, center chooses Delay, and down chooses XL Dark Reverb.
- REZ— Adjusts the analog filter's resonance and emphasis around the cutoff frequency.
- S RATE— Sets the bytebeat playback sample rate from 256 Hz to 16384 Hz, changing its speed and pitch.
- A1— Controls equation variable B; its effective range and behavior vary with the selected bytebeat program.
- SPEED— Sets the filter-modulation LFO rate from approximately 0.05 Hz to 5 Hz.
- SAMP R— Controls the effects-engine clock rate; lower settings produce darker, grainier processing and alter the delay's apparent pitch and timing.
- PITCH— Voltage-control input for pitch or bytebeat parameter modulation.
- F IN— External audio input routed through the analog VCF and digital effects chain.
- A0— Controls equation variable A; its effective range and behavior vary with the selected bytebeat program.
- OUT— Main processed audio output.
- Program Bit 2— The binary value-2 indicator in the four-LED display of the current bytebeat program number.
- Program Bit 8— The most-significant binary indicator in the four-LED display of the current bytebeat program number.
- DN— A short press selects the previous bytebeat program.
- Program Bit 4— The binary value-4 indicator in the four-LED display of the current bytebeat program number.
- UP— A short press selects the next of the 16 bytebeat programs.
- Program Bit 1— The least-significant binary indicator in the four-LED display of the current bytebeat program number.
- LFO Indicator— Pulses according to the selected LFO rate and waveform.
- CUTOFF— Sets the cutoff frequency of the analog low-pass filter.
