Mimetic Digitalis is a 10HP XY step sequencer optimized for live use. Its 4x4 step grid provides 16 steps across 4 independent CV channels (0-5V unquantized). Navigate the grid via trigger inputs (N/X/Y/R) or manual buttons, creating everything from standard linear sequences to XY-navigated generative patterns. 16 save/load slots persist through power cycles.
Controls & Jacks (41)
- Trig In — Primary clock input. Advances the sequence on each rising edge (>2.2V). Patch from a clock, gate sequencer, or any trigger source.
- Output 1 — CV output for channel 1 (0-5V unquantized). Each step holds a voltage value editable with the encoder. Use for pitch, filter cutoff, or any
- Output 2 — CV output for channel 2. Independent from channel 1 — edit separately by pressing the channel 2 selector.
- Output 3 — CV output for channel 3.
- Output 4 — CV output for channel 4.
- Trig In LED — Indicates incoming trigger pulses.
- Trig LED 2 — LED associated with trigger activity for output channels.
- In LED 2 — LED indicating input activity.
- Output LED 3 — LED indicating channel 3 output activity.
- Output LED 4 — LED indicating channel 4 output activity.
- N — Trigger input: advances to the next step in the full 16-step sequence. Same as pressing Next manually.
- X — Trigger input: advances horizontally within the current row of the 4x4 grid. Stays on the same row — great for creating 4-step patterns.
- Y — Trigger input: advances vertically within the current column. Moves down the column — useful for creating 4-step variations on the same note
- R — Trigger input: jumps to a random step in the grid. Creates unpredictable, generative sequences.
- N LED — Indicates N parameter activity.
- X LED — Indicates X parameter activity.
- CV LED — Indicates CV input activity.
- In LED — Indicates input activity for the CV In jack.
- CV In — General CV input (0-5V) that modulates step position. Route to vary which step is active.
- CV-N — CV input for the N axis — sweeps across all 16 steps proportionally. 0V = step 1, 5V = step 16.
- CV-X — CV input for the X axis — sweeps horizontally within the current row. 0V = left column, 5V = right column.
- Stop LED — Indicates the sequencer is stopped.
- Run LED — Indicates the sequencer is running.
- Stop/Run — Toggle switch. Stop mode: sequence pauses for step-by-step programming with the encoder. Run mode: sequence advances on triggers and live-re
- Edit — Rotary encoder for setting CV values. Turn for fine adjustment (detented for tuning). Push+turn for coarse jumps. Edits whichever channels a
- Run LED 2 — Secondary run indicator LED.
- Step Grid — The 4x4 LED matrix shows the current step position. Active step lights up. In edit mode, LED brightness indicates the stored CV value.
- Undo — Reverts all encoder edits back to the last loaded pattern. Acts as a safety net — experiment freely, then undo to restore.
- Select 1 — Toggles channel 1 for editing. When lit, the encoder and step grid show channel 1 values. Double-tap to solo (deselects all others).
- Select 2 — Toggles channel 2 for editing. Double-tap to solo.
- Select 3 — Toggles channel 3 for editing. Double-tap to solo.
- Select 4 — Toggles channel 4 for editing. Double-tap to solo.
- Next — Manual step advance button. Works in both Run and Stop modes. In Stop mode, use to navigate steps while programming.
- X Nav — Manual horizontal navigation — moves to the next step in the current row of the 4x4 grid.
- Y Nav — Manual vertical navigation — moves to the next step in the current column of the 4x4 grid.
- Rand — Jumps to a random step position in the grid. Great for live performance — creates unexpected jumps in the sequence.
- Origin — Returns to step 1 (top-left of the grid). Hold + turn encoder to slide/rotate the entire sequence to a new starting point.
- Load — Load a saved pattern (16 slots available). Hold Load + turn encoder to select slot, tap encoder to confirm. Quick-load: Load + channel butto
