Nano Modules ST Font

Stereo liquid filter

14 HP Eurorack module

ST Font is a stereo filter based on the FONT core, with morphing low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass responses, a stereo VCA with soft clipping, selectable resonance styles, and stereo offsets for frequency, resonance, and filter shape.

Features

  • Independent left and right filter cores with continuous crossfading between low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass responses.
  • Frequency sets the filter cutoff from 15 Hz to 20 kHz.
  • Resonance emphasizes frequencies around the cutoff and reaches self-oscillation at high settings.
  • Frequency Span, Resonance Span, and Mode Span offset the right channel's corresponding parameters relative to the left channel.
  • Drive sets the stereo VCA input gain before filtering. Signals exceeding 10 Vpp are soft-clipped, allowing clean amplification through saturation.
  • Patching Drive CV Input changes Drive into an attenuator for the incoming modulation.
  • Frequency CV Input, Resonance CV Input, and Mode CV Input feed their corresponding CV attenuverters, which adjust modulation amount and polarity.
  • Frequency Span CV Input, Resonance Span CV Input, and Mode Span CV Input provide external control of their corresponding stereo offsets.
  • Left Input is normalled to Right Input for mono sources. Patch both inputs for stereo processing; Left Output and Right Output carry the processed channels.
  • V/Oct Input tracks pitch when the filter self-oscillates as a sine-wave oscillator, covering approximately four to five octaves when properly tuned.
  • Power Indicator lights when powered. Left Driving and Right Driving light when their respective signals exceed the clipping threshold.
  • Input and output signals: +/-10 V. Input impedance: 10 kilohms; output impedance: 1 kilohm.

Controls & Jacks (26)

  • Resonance— Sets emphasis around the cutoff frequency; high settings drive the filter into self-oscillation, with behavior determined by the Mild/Wild r
  • Mode Span— Offsets the right-channel filter mode relative to the left channel to create stereo spread.
  • Frequency Span— Offsets the right-channel cutoff frequency relative to the left channel to create stereo spread.
  • Resonance Span— Offsets the right-channel resonance relative to the left channel to create stereo spread.
  • Drive— Controls stereo VCA input gain before the filter; signals exceeding 10 Vpp are soft-clipped to add distortion.
  • Mode CV Attenuverter— Adjusts the amount and polarity of modulation arriving at the Mode CV Input.
  • Resonance CV Attenuverter— Adjusts the depth and polarity of modulation arriving at the Resonance CV Input.
  • Mode Shape— Continuously morphs the filter response between low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass.
  • Frequency— Sets the filter cutoff frequency from 15 Hz to 20 kHz.
  • Mode CV Input— Modulates the morph between low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass responses through the Mode CV Attenuverter.
  • Right Output— Processed right-channel audio output; its filtering settings can be offset from the left channel using the Span controls.
  • Left Input— Left-channel audio input, normalled to the right input for mono processing.
  • Mode Span CV Input— Externally controls the right-channel filter-mode offset relative to the left channel.
  • Frequency CV Attenuverter— Adjusts the amount and polarity of modulation arriving at the Frequency CV Input.
  • V/Oct Input— Pitch-tracking input for using the self-oscillating filter as a sine-wave oscillator; tracks approximately four to five octaves when properl
  • Resonance Span CV Input— Externally controls the right-channel resonance offset relative to the left channel.
  • Left Output— Processed left-channel audio output; also carries the left filter's sine wave during self-oscillation.
  • Right Input— Right-channel audio input; patch alongside the left input for stereo processing.
  • Resonance CV Input— Modulates resonance through the Resonance CV Attenuverter.
  • Drive CV Input— Controls the stereo VCA externally; inserting a cable changes the Drive knob into an attenuator for this modulation.
  • Frequency Span CV Input— Externally controls the right-channel cutoff-frequency offset relative to the left channel.
  • Resonance Style— Selects MILD for smooth, controlled resonance or WILD for aggressive, distorted resonance.
  • Frequency CV Input— Modulates filter cutoff frequency through the Frequency CV Attenuverter.
  • Left Driving— Lights when the left-channel signal exceeds the clipping threshold.
  • Right Driving— Lights when the right-channel signal exceeds the clipping threshold.
  • Power Indicator— Lights when the module is powered.
