Noise Engineering Debel Iteritas Alia

Hybrid additive PM voice from bells to chaos

10 HP Eurorack module

Debel Iteritas Alia is a hybrid additive phase-modulation synth voice inspired by classic FM synth sounds. Its synthesis algorithms encompass three different takes on four-operator phase modulation, with a unique additive twist: each operator contains four oscillators (16 total), balanced by the Octave control. A two-parameter Shape/Time envelope covers attack/decay dynamics and timbral modulation, while Grit adds saturation and distortion. With CV over every parameter, a dedicated envelope output, and three algorithms spanning bright metallic tones to fiery impacts, Debel packs a huge timbral range into 10HP. Part of the Alia platform — firmware swappable via USB at any time.

Features

  • Hybrid additive phase-modulation synthesis with four operators of four oscillators each (16 total)
  • Three PM algorithms: Taco (2x2 paired, bright metallic), Nacho (linear chain, big crunchy), Diablo (linear chain + pitch envelope, fiery impacts)
  • Each operator contains four additive oscillators balanced by the Octave control
  • Two-parameter Shape/Time AD envelope controls dynamics and timbral modulation
  • Grit control adds saturation and distortion from clean to heavily crunched
  • Index controls PM modulation depth between operators
  • Detune offsets modulating oscillator frequencies for timbral variation
  • Dedicated envelope output (0V to +5V) mirrors internal AD envelope
  • Bass/Alto/Treble switch offsets pitch by two octaves per position (six-octave total range)
  • CV control over every parameter (0V to +5V modulation inputs)
  • Pitch encoder with press-and-turn coarse semitone adjustment and fine-tune mode
  • 1V/oct pitch CV tracking calibrated for -2V to +5V range
