Noise Engineering Electus Versio
Clocked atmosphere generator between delay and reverb
10 HP Eurorack module
Electus Versio is a clocked stereo atmosphere generator that blurs the line between delay and reverb, offering synced echoes, evolving tails, and distorted or shimmering feedback. It is more aggressive and in-your-face than its sibling Desmodus Versio, with tempo-synced delay lines that can be smeared into lush reverb. As a Versio platform module, it can be reflashed via USB to run alternate firmwares.
Features
- Clocked stereo delay/reverb hybrid atmosphere generator
- Tempo sync via tap button or external clock CV
- Size knob acts as clock multiplier/divider in clocked mode (1/2 through 2/1)
- Three atmosphere styles: LIM (clean limiting), DST (distorted clipping), SHM (shimmer with octave pitch shift)
- Three reflection structures via L/C/R toggle
- Bipolar Tone filter in feedback loop (lowpass left, highpass right, disabled center)
- Bipolar Index control for LFO modulation (random left, sine right, disabled center)
- Regen with sidechain-type ducking effect past 3 o'clock
- Dense control morphs continuously from delay to reverb
- Stereo inputs and outputs with mono normalling (In L normaled to In R)
- Versio platform: reflashable via micro USB to alternate firmwares
- Open-source firmware support
Controls & Jacks (27)
- Index — Bipolar control for LFO sent to delay lines. Center disables LFO, left modulates randomly, right modulates with sine wave.
- Tone — Bipolar filter in the feedback loop. Left controls lowpass filtering, right controls highpass filtering, center is disabled.
- Size — Delay time. When unclocked: short comb-like bursts (left) to long lush delays (right). When clocked: selects from 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 7/8, 1/1, 1
- Regen — Amount of feedback. Controls wide range of tones from minimized feedback to 100% infinite tails, with sidechain ducking past 3:00.
- Blend — Dry/wet balance control. Left is 100% dry, right is 100% wet, center is 50/50 mix.
- Size CV — CV input for Size parameter (0-5V).
- Dense — Spacing of delay lines. Left sounds like a delay, right smears delays into reverb.
- In R — Right audio input. If not patched, signal from L is normaled to both inputs.
- Out R — Right audio output.
- Dense CV — CV input for Dense parameter (0-5V).
- Regen CV — CV input for Regen parameter (0-5V).
- Status — Multi-color LED indicating firmware status on boot (Magenta, Yellow, Cyan, White pattern for EV firmware).
- Speed CV — CV input for Speed parameter (0-5V).
- In L — Left audio input.
- Index CV — CV input for Index parameter (0-5V).
- Blend CV — CV input for Blend parameter (0-5V).
- Tap Clock — External clock/trigger input for tempo synchronization. Responds to signals above +2V.
- Out
- Out L — Left audio output.
- Tap — Tap tempo button. Tap to set clock rate or patch external clock. Hold ~2 seconds to exit clocked mode and return to free-running.
- L/C/R — Reflection structure switch. Changes how delay lines connect with each other.
- Tone CV — CV input for Tone parameter (0-5V).
- LIM/DST/SHM — Atmosphere style selector. LIM (Limit): clean atmosphere with limiting. DST (Distort): clipping-based distortion. SHM (Shimmer): octave pitc
- In
- Speed 1 — Speed of the internal LFO modulation.
- Speed 2 — Speed of the internal LFO modulation.
- Tap CV — External clock/trigger input for tempo synchronization. Responds to signals above +2V.
