Noise Engineering Imitor Versio
12-tap stereo multimode delay built for experimentation
10 HP Eurorack module
Imitor Versio is a stereo 12-tap multimode delay with clock sync and tap tempo, designed for experimental and unusual echo effects. It offers extensive control over tap spacing, stereo placement, feedback character, and modulation, enabling everything from bouncing ball echoes to shimmering pitch-shifted atmospheres. Its flexible architecture makes it equally capable of clean rhythmic delays, vintage warble, sidechain ducking, and generative texture creation.
Features
- 12 delay taps with configurable amplitude shaping (crescendo, decrescendo, equal)
- Stereo in, stereo out signal path
- Tap tempo with gate/clock input jack
- Clock divider/multiplier mode when using tap or external clock via Spread
- Skew control for variable tap spacing from fast-to-slow or slow-to-fast
- Angle control for rotating tap positions around a stereo circle
- LFO control adding random or triangular modulation and wide bandpass filtering
- Three feedback path modes: clean (LIM), slight distortion (DST), pitch-shifted shimmer (SHM)
- Sidechain-style ducking when Regen is turned past 3:00
- Holding Tap for 2 seconds clears tapped tempo; holding for 5 seconds clears delay lines
- CV inputs for Blend, Regen, Skew, Angle, LFO, Time, and Spread (0V to 5V)
- Knobs act as offsets summed with CV inputs
Controls & Jacks (33)
- Skew — Changes the relative timing of the delay taps. Center is equal spacing. Left makes spacing start fast and get slower. Right makes spacing st
- Spread — Base delay time. Sets the time from now until the last tap. When using tap tempo or external clock, acts as a clock divider/multiplier.
- Out L — Left channel audio output.
- Out R — Right channel audio output.
- Regen CV — CV input for Regen control (0-5V).
- Time CV — CV input for Time control (0-5V).
- Time — How much time there is before the first delay as a fraction of the Spread setting.
- In L — Left channel audio input.
- Blend CV — CV input for Blend control (0-5V).
- Angle CV — CV input for Angle control (0-5V, bipolar).
- Skew CV — CV input for Skew control (0-5V, bipolar).
- LFO CV — CV input for LFO control (0-5V, bipolar).
- Tap Clock — Clock input for tap tempo synchronization (>2V threshold).
- Regen 1 — Feedback amount for the delay lines. Turning past 3:00 ducks the delay line based on input, creating sidechain-type effects.
- Spread CV — CV input for Spread control (0-5V).
- In R — Right channel audio input.
- LFO — Adds modulation and wide bandpass filtering to the delay line. Left is random, right is triangular. Acts as a warble control.
- Blend — Wet/dry mix between the input signal and the resulting delay.
- Angle — Sets the amount each delay tap is offset in stereo L/R space relative to the previous tap. Creates circular panning of taps around the stere

- Regen 2 — Feedback amount for the delay lines. Turning past 3:00 ducks the delay line based on input, creating sidechain-type effects.
- SHM
- Tap — Tap tempo button. Hold 2 seconds to clear tapped tempo. Hold 5 seconds to clear delay lines completely.
- LIM/DST/SHM — Delay mode that changes how the feedback path is processed: LIM (clean), DST (slightly distorted), SHM (pitch-shifted shimmer).
- >/=/< — Changes how the 12 delay taps behave. Left (<) taps decrescendo, center (=) all taps equal volume, right (>) taps crescendo.
- Status LED 1 (Yellow) — Status indicator LED (Yellow on boot).
- Status LED 2 (Yellow) — Status indicator LED (Yellow on boot).
