Noise Engineering Lacrima Versio
The devil's autowah with filter, distortion, and chorus
10 HP Eurorack module
Lacrima Versio is an autowah effect module featuring an envelope follower that drives a high-resonance state-variable filter, morphable between lowpass, bandpass, and highpass. It combines adjustable distortion placeable pre, between, or post filter stages with a stereo chorus and audio-rate modulation including octavizing, making it far more versatile than a classic wah. Its distinctive character ranges from smooth talking-filter wah sounds to self-oscillating percussive pings, saturated growls, and wide chorused tones.
Features
- Envelope follower with bipolar send amount for classic and reverse wah effects
- State-variable filter morphable between lowpass, bandpass, and highpass
- High resonance capable of self-oscillation
- Adjustable distortion/saturation placeable pre, between, or post filter stages
- Stereo chorus with two speed options
- Audio-rate modulation with octavizing effect in top third of Mod knob
- Manual envelope follower trigger via Hit button and gate input
- Dry/wet Blend control (does not affect chorus amount)
- CV inputs for Freq, Q, Env, and Mod
- Gate input for Hit (responds above 2V)
- Stereo in and out
- Part of the Versio platform — firmware swappable
Controls & Jacks (24)
- Q — Sets the amount of filter resonance.
- Freq — Sets the base frequency of the filter.
- L/B/H — Smoothly morphs and blends the filter from lowpass to bandpass to highpass.
- Blend — Dry/wet balance control. Fully left passes unmodified input. Fully right passes only processed signal. Chorus amount is not affected by blen
- Env — Bipolar envelope-follower send amount. Extracts envelope from incoming signal dynamics and routes to filter cutoff. At 12:00, no envelope ef
- Out L — Left audio output channel.
- In
- Mod — Introduces audio-rate modulation and octavizing effect in the top third of the knob range.
- Freq CV — Control voltage input for filter frequency. Expects 0V to 5V. Pot acts as offset and sums with input CV.
- Hit — Triggers the envelope follower manually.
- Sat — Saturation amount control for distortion.
- Q CV — Control voltage input for filter resonance. Expects 0V to 5V. Pot acts as offset and sums with input CV.
- Env CV — Control voltage input for envelope follower send amount. Expects 0V to 5V. Pot acts as offset and sums with input CV.
- Hit Gate — Gate input to trigger the envelope follower manually. Responds to signals above 2V.
- Out R — Right audio output channel.
- Mod CV — Control voltage input for modulation amount. Expects 0V to 5V. Pot acts as offset and sums with input CV.
- In L — Left audio input channel.
- In R 1 — Right audio input channel.
- In R 2 — Right audio input channel.
- Sat — Saturation amount control for distortion.
- Pre/Bet/Aft — Changes where the saturation stage is placed in the signal chain. Pre: at input, Bet: between filters, Aft: after filters.
- L/B/H — Smoothly morphs and blends the filter from lowpass to bandpass to highpass.
- Out
- 0/I/II — Activates chorus. 0 is off, I is slow chorus, II is faster chorus. Chorus amount is not affected by Blend.
