Noise Engineering Librae Legio
Master bus dynamics processor for the Eurorack modular
6 HP Eurorack module
Librae Legio is a stereo dynamics processor designed as an end-of-chain master bus tool for Eurorack, offering compression, expansion, limiting, noise gating, and two styles of gentle distortion. It was engineered with transparency in mind, capable of subtly gluing an ambient patch together or hard-limiting a techno mix. As a Legio platform module, its firmware can be swapped entirely via the Noise Engineering Customer Portal.
Features
- Stereo dynamics processing on the Legio hardware platform
- Adjustable compressor and expander via bipolar Room knob
- Transparent hard limiter with input gain controlled by Ceiling knob
- Two distortion modes: zero-crossing distortion (CCW) and saturation (CW) via Color encoder
- Tappable Color encoder to instantly bypass distortion
- Three-position Tilt sidechain filter: High, Off, Low
- Three-position Cut noise gate: Max, Some, None
- FSU jack for CV-triggered extreme compression, gain, and distortion beyond maximum
- In L normalled to In R when R is unpatched for mono-to-stereo operation
- Audio output up to 16V peak-to-peak
- CV modulation inputs for Color and Room (0V to +5V)
- Color CV input range -2V to +5V
Controls & Jacks (11)
- Room — Bipolar control for dynamics processing type. Right of center: compression. Left of center: expansion.
- Color — Encoder controlling distortion type. Turn left for zero-crossing distortion, right for saturation. Tap to reset to no distortion. Range: -2v
- Out R — Right channel audio output (up to 16v peak-to-peak).
- Ceiling — Controls input level to the dynamics processor, creating more aggressive limiting with higher values.
- FSU — CV modulation input. Rising edge around +1.6v boosts compression, gain, and distortion past maximum.
- In R — Right channel audio input (AC coupled).
- Color — Encoder controlling distortion type. Turn left for zero-crossing distortion, right for saturation. Tap to reset to no distortion. Range: -2v
- Out L — Left channel audio output (up to 16v peak-to-peak).
- In L — Left channel audio input (AC coupled). Normalled to Right if Right is unpatched.
- Cut — Three-position noise gate control after the dynamics processor. Max: aggressive gating. Some: moderate gating. None: gate bypassed.
- Tilt — Three-position switch filtering the dynamics processor sidechain. High: responsive to higher frequencies. Off: no filtering. Low: responsive
