Noise Engineering Muta Jovis
Switchable quad mute with circular normalling
4 HP Eurorack module
Muta Jovis is a simple but powerful utility: four independent mute channels in just 4HP. Each channel has a toggle switch that either passes the input signal to the output or connects the output to ground. LEDs confirm which channels are active. The inputs are circularly normalled, meaning a single patched input cascades through all four channels — patch one source and mute it to up to four destinations. Designed primarily for gates and triggers, it works equally well with audio and CV. MJ functions as a passive module (no power required for muting), though the LEDs need power to illuminate.
Features
- Four independent mute channels with toggle switches
- Circular input normalling — one input feeds up to four outputs
- LED indicators show active (unmuted) channels
- Passive mode — functions without power (LEDs do not illuminate)
- Unbuffered mult when all channels are open
- Muted outputs connect to ground (not floating)
- Input/output range: -10V to +10V
- Only 4HP wide
Controls & Jacks (16)
- Mute 1 — Toggle switch for channel 1. Left position mutes the signal; right position passes the input to the output.
- Mute 2 — Toggle switch for channel 2. Left position mutes the signal; right position passes the input to the output.
- Mute 3 — Toggle switch for channel 3. Left position mutes the signal; right position passes the input to the output.
- Mute 4 — Toggle switch for channel 4. Left position mutes the signal; right position passes the input to the output.
- LED 1 — Indicates channel 1 is passing signal (unmuted).
- LED 2 — Indicates channel 2 is passing signal (unmuted).
- LED 3 — Indicates channel 3 is passing signal (unmuted).
- LED 4 — Indicates channel 4 is passing signal (unmuted).
- In 1 — Input for channel 1. Normalled to In 2 when nothing is patched to In 2 (circular normalling).
- In 2 — Input for channel 2. Normalled to In 3 when nothing is patched to In 3 (circular normalling).
- In 3 — Input for channel 3. Normalled to In 4 when nothing is patched to In 4 (circular normalling).
- In 4 — Input for channel 4. Normalled to In 1 when nothing is patched to In 1 (circular normalling).
- Out 1 — Output for channel 1. Outputs the signal from In 1 when unmuted, or connects to ground when muted.
- Out 2 — Output for channel 2. Outputs the signal from In 2 when unmuted, or connects to ground when muted.
- Out 3 — Output for channel 3. Outputs the signal from In 3 when unmuted, or connects to ground when muted.
- Out 4 — Output for channel 4. Outputs the signal from In 4 when unmuted, or connects to ground when muted.
