Qu-Bit Electronix Prism
Multidimensional stereo spectral metamorphosis processor
12 HP Eurorack module
Prism is a multidimensional stereo signal processor combining a delay line, comb filter, decimator, and state variable filter into a single unified effects engine. It navigates audio transformation across three axes: time-based delay and comb filtering, sample rate and bit depth decimation, and a configurable LPF/HPF/BPF filter that can be placed before or after the signal chain. The result spans glitchy beat repeats, vocoder-esque comb timbres, lo-fi degradation, and frozen spectral textures.
Features
- Stereo inputs and outputs with input normalling (In 1 normalled to In 2)
- Flexible delay line: 0.5ms to 1.5 seconds
- Comb filter derived from delay line for vocoder-esque timbres
- Sample rate and bit depth decimation (Decimate control)
- State variable filter with LPF, HPF, BPF, and bypass modes
- Configurable filter position: beginning or end of signal chain
- Freeze control locks buffer for glitch and beat repeat effects
- Latching or momentary Freeze behavior selectable
- Clocked delay times via external clock input (repurposed Filter Type CV jack)
- Clock multiplication and division control via Time knob in clocked mode
- Input level adjustment via Cutoff Attenuverter held with Mode button
- CV inputs for Cutoff Frequency, Resonance, Time, Comb, Decimate, and Filter Type
Controls & Jacks (21)
- Cutoff — Manually sets the cutoff frequency of the state variable filter
- Comb CV — CV input for comb filtering amount. Range -5V to +5V, added to knob position.
- Time CV — CV input for audio buffer size/delay line. Range -5V to +5V, added to knob position.
- Time — Controls the size of the audio buffer in the delay line (1.5 seconds to 0.5 milliseconds). Foundation of comb filter and freeze control. CV
- Resonance — Controls the resonance of the state variable filter. CV range -5V to +5V added to knob position.
- Cutoff CV — CV input for cutoff frequency of state variable filter. Range -8V to +8V, scaled by attenuverter position and added to knob position.
- Decimate CV — CV input for bit depth and sample rate reduction. Range -5V to +5V, added to knob position.
- Filter Type — Controls the topology of the state variable filter: LPF (blue), HPF (green), BPF (red), or Disabled (off). CV range -5V to +5V added to knob
- Out 1 — Modular level audio output.
- Freeze — Locks the current contents of the delay line buffer. White LED indicates latching mode (toggle each press/trigger). Blue LED indicates momen
- Out 2 — Modular level audio output.
- Resonance CV — CV input for state variable filter resonance. Range -5V to +5V, added to knob position.
- Comb — Controls the amount of comb filtering/delay applied to the signal. CV range -5V to +5V added to knob position.
- In 1 — Modular level audio input. Normalled to Input 2.
- In 2 — Modular level audio input.
- Freeze Gate — Gate input for Freeze control. Button and gate can be configured as momentary or latching.
- Filter Type CV / Clock — CV input for filter type topology (range -5V to +5V). Can be configured as clock input for delay line via edit function.
- Mode — Rearranges signal flow to place state variable filter at beginning (blue LED) or end (green LED) of signal chain. Stored between power cycle
- Filter — Diamond-shaped LED matrix displaying current filter type and state. Shows LP (blue), HP (green), BP (red) filter topology and Freeze/Mode st
- Decimate Attenuator
- Cutoff Attenuverter — Attenuates and inverts the cutoff frequency CV input. At full counter-clockwise, CV is inverted and full-scale. At center, CV is disabled. A
