Shakmat Modular Knight's Gallop
Dual algo-rhythmic trigger generator for infinite polyrhythms
8 HP Eurorack module
Knight's Gallop is a dual trigger generator that creates polyrhythms by combining five different rhythmic pattern tables (including Euclidean, Anti-Euclidean, and custom revised variants) with five algorithmic modes that transform and relate the two outputs. Its musical character ranges from tight military patterns to organic tribal grooves and unpredictable generative rhythms, making it a powerful polyrhythm engine in a compact 8hp form factor.
Features
- Dual trigger outputs with independent algorithmic transformation on Out 2
- Five pattern tables: Divider Sequences, Classic Euclidean, Revised Euclidean, Anti Euclidean, Split Sequences
- Five main modes for Out 2 processing: Main (MN), Compute (CP), Random (RD), Dual (DL), Record (RC)
- Each mode contains multiple sub-modes navigated via Mode Button
- Length parameter adjustable 1-8 steps or extended to 9-16 steps via Mode+Table button combo
- Pulses parameter sets hit density from mute to fully filled
- Shift parameter offsets pattern start position forward or backward via +/- buttons
- CV inputs for both Length and Pulses parameters
- Reset input to restart sequence at step 1
- Compute mode auto-resets Out 2 sequence from Out 1
- Dual Mode allows fully independent Length and Pulses settings for each output with pickup potentiometer behavior
- Record mode allows live tap-in recording of custom patterns for both outputs
Controls & Jacks (14)
- Pulses — Sets the number of hits in the sequence. Turned fully counter-clockwise mutes the outputs; clockwise increases the number of hits distribute
- Shift Plus — Shifts the sequence one step forward
- Clock — Receives the master clock signal that drives the sequence
- Reset — Restarts the sequence at its first step when triggered
- Length — Adjusts the sequence length from 1 to 8 steps (or 9-16 steps when Length+ mode is enabled)
- Mode — Navigates through modes and sub-modes. Press to cycle through different algorithmic processing modes for the second output
- Table — Selects between 5 rhythm tables: Divider Sequences, Classic Euclidean, Revised Euclidean, Anti Euclidean, and Split Sequences
- Shift Minus — Shifts the sequence one step backward
- Modes & Tables LEDs — Indicates the currently selected table and mode by blinking patterns
- Sub-modes LEDs — Indicates the currently selected sub-mode within the active mode
- Out 1 — Trigger output 1. Outputs the euclidean rhythm pattern as trigger/gate pulses.
- Length CV — Control voltage input for the Length parameter (0-5V)
- Pulses CV — Control voltage input for the Pulses parameter (0-5V)
- Out 2 — Trigger output 2. Outputs the euclidean rhythm pattern as trigger/gate pulses.
