Noise Engineering Sinc Bucina
Resonant low-pass gate with velocity ping and slew
4 HP Eurorack module
Sinc Bucina is a resonant low-pass gate combining a two-pole VCF and VCA with a built-in RC envelope generator and slew limiter. It offers classic west-coast pluck tones via velocity-sensitive Ping input, or complex ASR envelope behavior via the Gate input. The 6/0/12 dB slope switch and resonant filter give it a wide tonal range from transparent gating to singing, harmonically rich textures.
Features
- Resonant two-pole low-pass filter implemented with SSI2164 VCA chips
- Switchable filter slope: 6 dB, bypass (VCA only), or 12 dB
- Velocity/amplitude-sensitive Ping input for expressive dynamic control (0 V to 5 V)
- Ping input bypasses Attack stage for immediate release-only LPG behavior
- Gate input acts as true slew limiter with Attack and Release control
- Gate input accepts gates, triggers, or any CV signal including stepped sequences
- Separate Attack and Release knobs for full ASR envelope shaping
- Envelope Out jack exports internal envelope (0 V to 6 V) for external modulation
- Hit momentary button for hands-on performance without a sequencer
- RC envelope generator with vactrol-like temporal nonlinearity character
- Gate input voltage dependent: responds to voltages up to 10 V
- 4HP compact footprint
Controls & Jacks (11)
- Gate — Slew input. Accepts gates for ASR envelope behavior or complex signals to be slewed. Rise/fall rates set by Attack/Release knobs. Voltage de
- Hit — Momentary button that sends a gate to the Gate input for as long as the button is pressed.
- Audio In — Audio input to the VCF/VCA.
- Audio Out — Audio output from the VCF/VCA.
- Release — Sets the fall time for the slew.
- Envelope — Visual indicator of envelope state.
- Envelope Out — ASR envelope output. 0-6V depending on Ping/Gate input.
- Attack — Sets the rise time for the slew. The Attack stage is bypassed if a trigger is sent to the Ping input.
- Out
- Ping — Amplitude-dependent trigger input. Bypasses the Attack stage. Release time is set by Release knob. Voltage dependent: 0-5V, with 5V opening
- Filter Slope — Sets the LPG's behavior: resonant 6 dB-slope low-pass filter, no filter (just VCA), or 12 dB-slope low-pass filter.
