This Is Not Rocket Science Bopp & Steve
A cinematic, deconstructed space effect.
24 HP Eurorack module
A stereo, deconstructed spatial reverb that exposes diffusion, delay, tail, pitch placement, mixing, freezing, and envelope tracking as independently adjustable regions.
Features
- Deconstructed reverb with more than 40 delay lines, separate diffusion, delay, and tail regions.
- Stereo output is retained when using a mono input.
- Delay and tail can be frozen independently or together; frozen regions stop accepting new audio.
- Three stereo pitch shifters can operate at seven selectable locations in the signal path.
- MIDI note control supports monophonic Regular and Free operation or the first three held notes in Chord mode; MIDI clock is ignored.
- An envelope follower provides regular or inverted ducking CV derived from the dry input.
Controls & Jacks (60)
- Send/Mix— Toggles Main Mix between Send behavior when illuminated and wet/dry crossfade behavior when unlit.
- Free Mode— Lights when Free mode is selected, providing unquantized monophonic transposition with symmetrical detuning.
- Delay Length— Sets the base delay time in Pingpong and Multitap modes or the virtual pipe length and resulting pitch in Waveguide mode, from extremely sho
- Transpose— Transposes the center pitch of the shifters across ±24 semitones; the Pitch Mode control blinks at exact -24, -12, 0, +12, and +24 semitone
- MIDI Input— Receives MIDI notes for the pitch shifters; Regular and Free follow the latest note, while Chord responds to the first three held notes. MID
- Audio Input 1— First stereo audio input, routed through the processing line to Audio Output 1; it may also be used alone for mono input.
- Chord Mode— Lights when Chord mode is selected, assigning the three shifters different notes from the chosen or MIDI-supplied chord.
- Audio Output 1— First channel of the stereo processed output, corresponding to Audio Input 1.
- Transpose CV Input— Controls the pitch shifter's central transposition over approximately ±24 semitones with roughly 1 V/octave response.
- Tap Input— Accepts gates or clock pulses that establish the base delay tempo, equivalent to tapping the Tap control.
- Freeze— Holds the selected delay and/or tail audio indefinitely and prevents those frozen regions from accepting new input while held.
- Pitch Mode— Cycles the pitch shifters among Regular quantized monophonic, Chord polyphonic, and Free unquantized modes; changing mode also clears a hang
- Flavour— Morphs the all-pass diffuser's timing ratios from close and immediate reflections to increasingly distant spatial impressions.
- Control CV Input— Adds an external control voltage to Pitch Control; its effect follows the selected Regular, Chord, or Free pitch mode.
- Audio Output 2 Activity— Blinks in response to audio present at Audio Output 2.
- Feedback CV Input— Adds an external control voltage to the Feedback setting; the expected range is -5 V to +5 V.
- Tail Level— Sets how much of the reverb-tail region is applied along the signal path.
- Tail Length— Sets the decay time for all tail algorithms, from extremely short to nearly infinite; in Sparse mode it also spaces the granular events fart
- Main CV Input— Adds an external control voltage to the Main Mix setting; the expected range is -5 V to +5 V.
- Tail Mode— Cycles the reverb-tail algorithm among Dense, Float, and Sparse.
- Pitch Point Output— Lights when pitch shifting is placed at the end of the processing line.
- Temperature— Applies a warm-to-cold tilt filter in Dense and Sparse, or balances damping against octave shimmer in Float.
- Pitch Point Dry Mix— Lights when pitch shifting is applied to the dry-mix path.
- Multitap Mode— Lights when Multitap delay is selected, producing three stereo taps with predetermined time ratios, positions, and levels.
- Tail Length CV Input— Adds an external control voltage to the Tail Length setting; the expected range is -5 V to +5 V.
- Delay Length CV Input— Adds an external control voltage to the Delay Length setting; the expected range is -5 V to +5 V.
- Envelope Output— Outputs a preprocessed regular or inverted ducking envelope derived from the dry input, with a maximum level of 5 V.
- Freeze Gate Input— Freezes the enabled delay and/or tail regions while an external gate is held high.
- Audio Input 1 Activity— Blinks in response to audio present at Audio Input 1.
- Temperature CV Input— Adds an external control voltage to the Temperature setting; the expected range is -5 V to +5 V.
- Delay Mode— Cycles the delay algorithm among Pingpong, Waveguide, and Multitap.
- Audio Output 2— Second channel of the stereo processed output, corresponding to Audio Input 2; the output remains stereo when only one input is used.
- Audio Input 2— Second stereo audio input, routed through the processing line to Audio Output 2.
- Pitch Point— Moves the pitch-shifting stage among seven positions in the audio path: start, diffuse, delay, delay feedback, tail, end, and dry mix.
- Audio Input 2 Activity— Blinks in response to audio present at Audio Input 2.
- Main— In Send mode, moves from dry input to dry plus wet effects; in Mix mode, crossfades from dry to wet; in the alternate always-dry mode, sets
- Feedback— Sets how much processed signal returns to the beginning of the delay, from maximum decay to near-infinite feedback.
- Audio Output 1 Activity— Blinks in response to audio present at Audio Output 1.
- Delay Level— Sets how much of the delay region is applied along the signal path.
- Pingpong Mode— Lights when Pingpong delay is selected, with echoes alternating across the stereo field.
- Waveguide Mode— Lights when Waveguide delay is selected, creating a short resonant pipe-like physical-modeling effect.
- Regular Mode— Lights when Regular mode is selected, placing all three shifters near the same quantized monophonic pitch.
- Envelope Level Indicator— Shows the Envelope Output voltage: full brightness represents 5 V, lower brightness represents a smaller voltage, and darkness represents 0
- Sparse Mode— Lights when the minimal granular Sparse tail with reordered forward and reverse fragments is selected.
- Envelope— Selects an inverted ducking envelope to the left or a regular envelope to the right; the center produces no output, and the extremes add a s
- Pitch Point Start— Lights when pitch shifting is placed at the start of the processing line.
- Tap— Tap repeatedly to establish the delay tempo; its embedded illumination blinks at the active tempo.
- Pitch Point Delay— Lights when pitch shifting is placed at the input to the delay region.
- Pattern— Changes the stereo delay-time relationship in Pingpong, selects the frequencies retained in Waveguide, or applies a warm-to-cold tilt filter
- Delay Activity— Blinks with the audio activity and intensity passing through the delay region.
- Chorality— Adds detuned voices in Dense, applies subtler chorusing in Float, or sets the probability of granular events in Sparse.
- Pitch Point Diffuse— Lights when pitch shifting is placed at the input to the diffuse region.
- Pitch Point Feedback— Lights when pitch shifting is placed within the delay feedback path.
- Diffuse Activity— Blinks with the audio activity and intensity passing through the diffuse region.
- Diffuse Level— Sets how much diffusion is applied at the corresponding region of the signal path.
- Control— Sets portamento in Regular mode, selects a chord voicing in Chord mode, or symmetrically detunes the three shifters by up to an octave in Fr
- Dense Mode— Lights when the full, highly diffused Dense tail algorithm is selected.
- Float Mode— Lights when the smooth, ethereal Float tail with octave shimmer is selected.
- Tail Activity— Blinks with the audio activity and intensity passing through the tail region.
- Pitch Point Tail— Lights when pitch shifting is placed at the input to the tail region.
