Timo Rozendal Filler
Intelligent drum fill and variation engine for Eurorack
14 HP Eurorack module
Filler is a Eurorack drum variation module that listens to incoming drum triggers, learns the rhythm over 2-3 bars, and then plays fills, variations, and transformations on command, all synchronized to an external clock. It features two independent processing layers: a fill layer that temporarily replaces the drum pattern for one bar, and a drummer layer that continuously transforms the passing pattern in real time, giving electronic drum patterns a more dynamic and human character.
Features
- 6 trigger inputs (BD, SN, CH, OH, P1, P2) with pattern learning over 2-3 bars
- 7 trigger outputs including automatic cymbal/crash output (CY) on fill end
- 333 built-in fill patterns organized across 41 genre-grouped banks
- 6 fill modes: Mute, Built In, Automatch, Variation, Euclidean, Roll
- 8 drummer variation modes for continuous real-time pattern transformation
- Markov chain machine learning drummer mode with exponential decay model
- Steve Reich-style Phase-Cascade drummer mode
- CV output with configurable attack, release, and curve synchronized to fills
- CV input routable to Fill Param knob or Drummer knob via settings
- Direct mode for immediate mid-bar fill triggering
- Deferred mode for bar-aligned fill triggering with armed state indicator
- External clock input at 1 pulse per 16th note (PPQN=4)
Controls & Jacks (25)
- CH Input — Closed hi-hat trigger input
- CV Input — Control voltage input (0-5V), routable to Fill Param or Drummer knob
- Encoder — Rotary encoder with push function. Controls different parameters depending on active OLED page: fill mode/bank/random range (F page), drumme
- OH Output — Open hi-hat trigger output
- BD Output — Bass drum trigger output
- BD Input — Bass drum trigger input
- Drummer — Controls intensity of drummer variation layer. Has 10% dead zone at bottom (pure passthrough). Turning clockwise increases drummer effect. C
- CH Output — Closed hi-hat trigger output
- CV Output — Control voltage envelope output (0-6.5V), synchronized to fills
- Direct Mode — Toggles between Direct mode ON (fill starts immediately at current position) and OFF (fill waits for next bar boundary). LED lights yellow w
- SN Output — Snare trigger output
- P2 Input — Percussion 2 trigger input
- P1 Output — Percussion 1 trigger output
- SN Input — Snare trigger input
- Clock Input — Clock input (1 pulse per 16th note)
- P1 Input — Percussion 1 trigger input
- OH Input — Open hi-hat trigger input
- P2 Output — Percussion 2 trigger output
- Reset Input — Reset to beat one input
- Fill Input — Alternative fill trigger input
- CY Output — Cymbal/crash trigger output (auto-fires at fill end)
- Fill Param — Controls the character of fills. Function depends on current fill mode. CV input can be routed to this knob.
- Reset — Manually resets Filler to step 1 (beat one) for rhythm synchronization.
- Page — Cycles through the four OLED display pages: F (fill), D (drummer), CV (envelope), + (settings).
- Fill — Triggers a fill pattern. LED inside indicates state: off (idle), solid (fill active), pulsing (fill armed for next bar). Button has integrat
