Tiptop Audio Trigger Riot
16-knob algorithmic trigger sequencer with 8 gate/trigger outputs
28 HP Eurorack module
The Trigger Riot is a multipurpose trigger and gate sequencer that generates ultra-complex rhythmic patterns from a 4x4 matrix of rotary encoders feeding 8 independently controllable outputs. Each knob functions as a clock divider, step injector, probability gate, time shifter, clock shifter, pulse-width modulator, and speed multiplier. The module operates in two modes: Matrix (rows and columns interact, summing triggers across both axes) and Independent (each output has its own discrete settings). With 32 preset memories across 4 banks, preset looping, SyncBus integration, DAW sync, DIN Sync, and tap tempo, it serves as both a master clock source and an algorithmic rhythm generator.
Features
- 16 endless rotary encoders in a 4x4 matrix grid
- 8 independent gate/trigger outputs (4 rows + 4 columns)
- 7 parameter modes per knob: Divide, Steps, Probability, Speed, Clock Shift, Time Shift, Pulse Width
- Matrix mode sums rows and columns for cross-rhythm generation
- Independent mode gives each output its own dedicated knob settings
- 32 non-volatile preset memories (4 banks x 4 presets, separate for each mode)
- Preset looping with forward, backward, drunk, and random modes
- Beat Sync quantizes preset and mute changes to the cycle boundary
- Internal clock generator with precise BPM control and tap tempo
- Programmable cycle length with adjustable start and end points (1-255 clocks)
- External clock input supporting 16th notes, DIN Sync (24 PPQN), and DAW sync
- SyncBus for tight multi-module synchronization via ribbon cable
