u-he Melt
A variable-character analogue filter, from soft to wild.
14 HP Eurorack module
Melt is a four-pole analogue low-pass filter for Eurorack with a variable character, three main audio inputs, an auxiliary bypass path, cutoff FM, resonance control, and VCA-controlled low-pass and band-pass outputs.
Features
- Four-pole analogue low-pass filter with variable character.
- Two cutoff-FM paths; FM1 adds polarity inversion and CV-controlled depth.
- Auxiliary input bypasses the filter and feeds both outputs.
- Independent CV-controlled VCAs on the low-pass and band-pass outputs.
Controls & Jacks (26)
- Low-pass Output— Voltage-controlled low-pass audio output; its VCA is controlled by the Low-pass VCA CV input.
- Core Temperature— Drives asymmetric soft clipping in the filter core, from relatively clean to heavily saturated character while compensating output level.
- Input 3 Level— Sets the attenuated level of Input 3 in the filter mixer.
- Band-pass Output— Voltage-controlled band-pass audio output; its VCA is controlled by the Band-pass VCA CV input.
- Low-pass VCA CV— CV input controlling the low-pass output VCA; normalled to 7.5 V when unpatched.
- Resonance CV— CV input for resonance amount.
- FM1 Depth— Sets FM1 cutoff-modulation depth, with its polarity and depth also affected by the associated switch and amount CV input.
- Input 1 Level— Sets Input 1 level and attenuates its voltage-controlled VCA level.
- Cutoff Frequency— Sets the filter cutoff frequency.
- FM1 Amount CV— CV input that adds to or reduces FM1 modulation depth.
- FM2 Cutoff CV— Cutoff-frequency modulation input for FM2.
- Aux Input— Auxiliary audio input that bypasses the filter and is routed to both output VCAs.
- Band-pass VCA CV— CV input controlling the band-pass output VCA; normalled to 7.5 V when unpatched.
- Aux Level— Sets the level of the auxiliary signal through its dedicated VCA; the auxiliary signal bypasses the filter.
- Input 1 Level CV— CV input controlling the VCA for Input 1's level; normalled to 7.5 V when unpatched.
- Aux VCA CV— CV input controlling the auxiliary-input VCA; normalled to 7.5 V when unpatched.
- Resonance— Sets internal filter feedback; the filter can self-oscillate.
- Low-pass Slope— Selects the low-pass filter slope: 12, 18, or 24 dB per octave; the 18 dB output is phase-inverted.
- FM1 Cutoff CV— Cutoff-frequency modulation input for FM1, processed by the FM1 depth, polarity, and amount-CV controls.
- Input 2 Level— Sets the attenuated level of Input 2 in the filter mixer.
- Input 3— Audio input 3 to the filter mixer.
- Input 1— Audio input 1 to the filter mixer; its level is voltage-controlled by the Input 1 Level CV input.
- Input 2— Audio input 2 to the filter mixer.
- FM2 Depth— Sets FM2 cutoff-modulation depth.
- FM1 Polarity— Inverts the phase (polarity) of the FM1 cutoff-modulation signal.
- Resonance Compensation— Enables resonance compensation to counter the bass and level loss associated with high resonance.
