Mutable Instruments Veils
Four transparent VCAs with mixing and offset control
10 HP Eurorack module
Veils is a quad VCA with continuously variable exponential-to-linear response curves, an offset control per channel, and daisy-chained outputs that allow groups of channels to be summed into a mixer. It is equally at home shaping amplitude envelopes, animating oscillator blends, scaling modulation signals, and half-wave rectifying bipolar LFOs into unipolar control voltages.
Features
- Four independent DC-coupled VCAs with audio-rate signal handling
- Continuously variable exponential-to-linear response curve per channel
- Positive offset control (0 to 8V) per channel added to the gain CV
- Gain CV input normalized to +8V when unpatched for slider-as-gain use
- A +5V CV yields unity gain (0dB) in both linear and exponential modes
- Exponential mode supports gains above +20dB for amplifying line-level signals
- Daisy-chained outputs: unpatched outputs sum their signal into the next channel downstream
- Gain indicator LED with brightness proportional to VCA gain on a dB scale
- Output indicator LED with brightness representing signal level and color representing polarity
- All inputs 100k impedance, DC-coupled
- Compact 10-HP footprint with sliders instead of knobs for gain/CV amount
- Output formula: (CV × cv_amount + offset) × input_signal
