Vult Anima

10 HP Eurorack module

PsychTone-inspired pseudo-random voltage and gate sequence generator with quantized output, selectable distributions, and deterministic or Turing-machine-like operation.

Features

  • Six-stage pseudo-random shift-register sequencing with a 63-step repeat period.
  • PsychTone-inspired sequencer with quantized voltage output and Turing-machine-like behavior.
  • Selectable 6- or 12-stage register length.

Controls & Jacks (28)

  • CLK— Receives the clock signal that advances the shift-register sequence.
  • RST— Receives a pulse to restart the sequence; it can also truncate a sequence at a chosen clock interval.
  • 6/12— Selects a 6-stage or 12-stage shift register; 12 stages produce substantially longer sequences.
  • 2— Sets the voltage contribution associated with register selection B.
  • A— Selects the shift-register source used for the A voltage contribution.
  • C— Selects the shift-register source used for the C voltage contribution.
  • Stage 1 State— Shows the current logic state of shift-register stage 1.
  • Stage 2 Pulse/Pause— Enables or disables shift-register stage 2 as a source for the gate and CV pattern; it also selects a value while configuring a held-button
  • GLD— Makes CV update on every clock instead of only when a gate is generated.
  • 1— Sets the voltage contribution associated with register selection A.
  • B— Selects the shift-register source used for the B voltage contribution.
  • Stage 5 Pulse/Pause— Enables or disables shift-register stage 5 as a source for the gate and CV pattern; it also selects a value while configuring a held-button
  • Stage 3 State— Shows the current logic state of shift-register stage 3.
  • F/B— Selects the forward or backward variant of the sequence-generation algorithm.
  • 3— Sets the voltage contribution associated with register selection C.
  • GATE— Outputs gate pulses derived from the enabled register stages.
  • Stage 1 Pulse/Pause— Enables or disables shift-register stage 1 as a source for the gate and CV pattern; it also selects a value while configuring a held-button
  • Stage 3 Pulse/Pause— Enables or disables shift-register stage 3 as a source for the gate and CV pattern; it also selects a value while configuring a held-button
  • Stage 4 Pulse/Pause— Enables or disables shift-register stage 4 as a source for the gate and CV pattern; it also selects a value while configuring a held-button
  • CV— Outputs the generated quantized control voltage, normally spanning 0 to 3 V in semitone steps.
  • Stage 2 State— Shows the current logic state of shift-register stage 2.
  • BIT4— Enables the phantom fourth bit, extending the generated CV range to -1 to 3 V.
  • U/D— Selects the up or down variant of the sequence-generation algorithm.
  • Stage 6 Pulse/Pause— Enables or disables shift-register stage 6 as a source for the gate and CV pattern; it also selects a value while configuring a held-button
  • Stage 6 State— Shows the current logic state of shift-register stage 6.
  • MODE— Selects deterministic operation or non-deterministic, Turing-machine-like operation.
  • Stage 5 State— Shows the current logic state of shift-register stage 5.
  • Stage 4 State— Shows the current logic state of shift-register stage 4.
