Vult Caudal
Mechanical Chaos Source
10 HP Eurorack module
Caudal is a hardware mechanical-chaos source with eight chaotic-system simulations and eight modulation outputs.
Features
- Eight distinct outputs for modulation.
- Two sample-and-hold banks capture and hold all output values.
- Speed and Energy each have CV control with an attenuverter.
Controls & Jacks (26)
- A Y Output— Y output for chaotic signal A.
- Speed— Sets the time scale of the chaotic simulation, from very slow movement to a few hundred hertz.
- Energy Attenuverter— Bipolar level control for CV applied to Energy.
- B Y Output— Y output for chaotic signal B.
- Energy— Sets the activity or level of chaos; its exact effect depends on the selected model.
- Speed Attenuverter— Bipolar level control for CV applied to Speed.
- Speed CV Input— CV input for the Speed control.
- HIT Trigger Input— Manual/external trigger input for selecting a new random simulation state.
- A X Output— X output for chaotic signal A.
- D Y Output— Y output for chaotic signal D.
- B X Output— X output for chaotic signal B.
- Sample & Hold X Input— Trigger input for the X sample-and-hold bank; each trigger captures all X output values.
- STORE Trigger Input— External trigger input for storing the current simulation state.
- Energy CV Input— CV input for the Energy control.
- C X Output— X output for chaotic signal C.
- RECALL Trigger Input— External trigger input for recalling the stored simulation state.
- REV Trigger Input— Manual/external trigger input for reversing the simulation direction.
- Mode Selector— Cycles through the eight chaotic-system operating modes: Pendulum, Planets, Fish Tank, Fluctuations, Coupled Oscillators, Feedback Dynamics,
- C Y Output— Y output for chaotic signal C.
- REV— Reverses the direction of the simulation elements, making signals retrace their paths before diverging.
- D X Output— X output for chaotic signal D.
- Sample & Hold Y Input— Trigger input for the Y sample-and-hold bank; each trigger captures all Y output values.
- Mode Indicator— Shows the selected operating mode through its LED combination.
- STORE— Stores a snapshot of the current internal simulation state.
- HIT— Selects a new random initial state, immediately changing all outputs.
- RECALL— Recalls the saved simulation state and resumes evolution from it.
