XAOC Devices Mińsk
M/S stereo width sculptor with dimension and depth
6 HP Eurorack module
Mińsk is a hybrid digital/analog stereo image processor for Eurorack that performs Mid/Side encoding and decoding, allowing independent treatment of the center and width components of a stereo signal. It offers manual and CV-controlled stereo width, two dimension enhancement effects based on the Haas effect and early reflections, a side high-pass filter for vinyl preparation, and a send/return loop for external M/S processing. Its musical character ranges from subtle stereo glue and width control to dramatic spatial manipulation and faux stereo creation.
Features
- Hybrid digital and analog Mid/Side stereo image processing
- L/R to M/S encoding with precision sum/difference matrix
- M/S to L/R decoding (fully analog conversion stage)
- IMAGE knob for manual stereo width control (CCW: mono, center: unity, CW: wide to 2xSide)
- CV input for voltage-controlled stereo width (0-10V range, knob acts as offset)
- Dimension A effect based on Haas effect with slowly varying inter-channel delay
- Dimension B effect based on early reflections ER network for spaciousness
- Mono to faux stereo conversion via Left/Mono input with Dimension effects
- Side HPF with 300Hz/12dB-oct and 50Hz/24dB-oct settings for vinyl and PA prep
- Mid Send and Side Send jacks for external M/S processing
- Mid Return and Side Return jacks with internal send-to-return normalization
- POSITION knob for L/R output balance trim (+2/-12dB range)
Controls & Jacks (18)
- Dimension — 3-position slider switch selecting dimension effect: off, dimension a (Haas effect with slowly varying delay), or dimension b (early reflect
- Side HPF — High-pass filter on side component with three settings: off, 50Hz (24dB/oct), or 300Hz (12dB/oct) for eliminating off-axis low end.
- Image — Controls the width of the stereo image by applying variable gain to M and S components. Center position (mid+side) does not affect signal. C
- Position — Adjusts left and right output balance with range limited to +2/-12dB for precision.
- Goniometer LED M — Goniometer display LED indicating signal strength along vertical axis (channels in phase).
- Goniometer LED S Left — Goniometer display LED indicating signal strength along horizontal axis (stereo width/side component).
- Goniometer LED S Right — Goniometer display LED indicating signal strength along diagonal axis.
- Goniometer LED L Out — Goniometer display LED (yellow) indicating left output signal strength after symmetry adjustment.
- Goniometer LED R Out — Goniometer display LED (yellow) indicating right output signal strength after symmetry adjustment.
- Left In — Left channel audio input (AC-coupled). Accepts up to 20Vpp, recommended 10Vpp.
- Right In — Right channel audio input (AC-coupled). Accepts up to 20Vpp, recommended 10Vpp.
- Mid Send — Mid component (scaled sum of L and R) available for external processing.
- Side Send — Side component (scaled difference of L and R) available for external processing.
- Mid Return — Mid component return path. If unpatched, internally normalized from Mid Send.
- Side Return — Side component return path. If unpatched, internally normalized from Side Send.
- Left Out — Left channel audio output from M/S to L/R conversion.
- Right Out — Right channel audio output from M/S to L/R conversion.
- Image — Controls the width of the stereo image by applying variable gain to M and S components. Center position (mid+side) does not affect signal. C
